Val returned to the harbor of Valencia island on the ferry from Amaya. They were quite satisfied with how the tournament went, and were ready to resume adventuring. They were accompanied by Grisel and Bahamut, as they had decided to let everyone else stay indefinitely in an Amayan sanctuary, since they didn't want to continue weaponizing Seabiscuit, keep tormenting Dennis with their incompetence, or keep Cherry around in general, given that keeping her around would double the money they'd have to spend on potato chips on a weekly basis. All that aside, they also didn't need 6 Pokemon since Grisel and Bahamut got so powerful in the labyrinth as to tear their enemies limb from limb... when they could actually be bothered to do so. In the meantime, they bulldozed all current competition, and Grisel was looking... more powerful? Val couldn't tell, but there was something different about him. Regardless of all that, Professor Ivy had decreed a mandatory challenge on the island, for all adventuring trainers: you must defeat her three assistants (who were incidentally triplets for maximum convenience and obnoxious smugness) to prove that you and your Pokemon are ready in every way to face whatever perils may befall you in the islands. A fair challenge, to be sure, and it would even net Val some more of that sweet, sweet PRIZE MONEY. So Val walked into the lab, and scheduled a walk-in battle test with the triplets, while Bahamut filed his claws into sharper points, and Grisel downed another bag of chips. The receptionist at the front desk walked out, and showed them to the arena, where the first triplet emerged from the other side, sending in... a Fluffoon. Val was tempted to not take this seriously. "Alright, Grisel! Our first fight since the tournament! Use any of that Auri juice you have left in your system, and get leafin'!" Grisel, growing lazy, started chugging the crushed chip remnants at the bottom of the bag with one hand, while throwing razor leaves with the other.
