We Need Your Help!
We actually have two projects we need help for, and they're both related, so I'll go over them one at a time. First, as most of you know, the new site is going to feature a full-fleged PokeDex. To make the process of building the dex entries either, our local code monkey MechanicalMonarch has created a brilliant program that practically does the job for us. One of the most remarkable features of the dex entry builder is its learnset creator; all you have to do is input the name and level of the move, and the program takes care of the rest. However, this requires.... Read More

Stephen stepped out of the jet black chopper that landed on the edge of Ponamu city. The time had come to confront Valyth once and for all; it was time for serious business. He needed Valyth’s power to stop Tajiro, but that was all he knew. He didn’t know if Valyth could stop Solipsus, but if any of the three deities were to stop that monster it was sure to be the most powerful. Stephen looked around for the jet that was to bringing the other members of his squad for this trip, but he didn’t see it, not yet. He slipped on his dark hood that revealed him as a member of Team Eclipse and sat down on a rock to wait.

After a few minutes the jet arrived and the people on it disembarked. Stephen looked at them closely; He recognized an elite eclipse member known only as Da Dood and a rookie who had gotten Tajiro’s fake orb, but he didn’t recognize the rest. ”A couple of them might need toughening up, but facing Valyth might do that. Perhaps too much.”

Stephen summoned them closer and explained that he wished to tame Valyth and use him to stop Tajiro. This seemingly abrupt and reckless decision fired up a few members and they began arguing with their own ideas. ”I hate it when other people get ideas.” Stephen thought. The arguing continued for several minutes before the one person who hadn’t said anything, Zarke, said something; however, his words were drowned out by the fighting, but Stephen could see that he was trying to speak. “Shut up!” He roared, and everybody paused to look up at him. He then motioned to Zarke, “Hurry up and talk. We don’t have all day.”

“Well, rather than running into battle recklessly, I think we should devise a strategy,” Zarke said calmly, “There is a Gym Leader in this city, so we should go see if he can assist us in this battle.”

Stephen nodded, “Good plan. We go to find the Gym Leader first. Anybody who argues can see how well they fare against a couple of my Pokémon. They haven’t battled in a while, and I’m sure that they’re itching to.” There was no argument. “Well then, let’s head off and find him before Valyth destroys the city.”

The squad quietly and quickly set off into the maze of buildings to find this gym leader, Sol. There was so much to do and so little time to do it. Hopefully he could help.

Zarke sighed quietly to himself as the jet touched down upon the City of Ponamu. And so here he was, on a wild goose chase of sorts. Working for Eclipse, even if he did not wish to do so in the first place. But he would not show this emotion to the others. What he thought and what he did were entirely different, and this mission apparently needed cooperation, and a lot of team work.

He thought quietly as the one in charge, whose name seemed to be Stephen, explained the aims of this trip. Apparently, they were here because of Valyth. This deity of Eclipse was spotted near here, and it was best to convince or use it to help combat the threat of Solipsus. He did not say it, but he knew that it was unlikely that this one deity alone would be enough. Even if Valyth was the deity of valor, it was bound to be of no match against the being of destruction Solipsus. But this was the best bet that they had so far. Another interesting note from the briefing was one that he had not heard. It would seem that Tajiro was the one who was involved in all of this, and apparently the mastermind. The knowledge that the Zeralian Champion was involved at the heart of all this was something that was not commonly known. This was certainly more than just a little interesting now.

It would seem that as he thought carefully about this situation, the others had erupted into heavy discussion. But even so, he knew what their first line of action ought to be. They had only just arrived, and they would certainly need more information. And this ragtag team of Eclipse as well as random trainers would need a lot more help to fight against a Zeralian deity, not to mention against the being of destruction. And who was best than the gym leader of this city? The one who was more than likely to know what was going on here in the city?

He muttered something, but his words were soon lost to the winds as well as the noise generated by the others. Stephen, the Eclipse admin yelled out for everyone to shut up, and they certainly did. This person certainly had a level of charisma needed to advance this far. And as he urged Zarke to continue, he slowly and carefully spoke.

"Well, rather than running straight into battle recklessly, I believe we should devise a strategy first." Pausing for a short moment, he continued. "There is a Gym Leader here in this city, so we should go and see if he is capable of offering us assistance in this battle."

The Eclipse Admin and the other quickly agreed, knowing that this was most likely the best plan they had for now. Not that it was a terribly good plan. The Gym Leader was under no obligation to help them, and he or she would be more than likely to be protecting or sheltering the people of this city. And that would be the best way to search out for this Gym Leader.

Zarke added something quietly as the group split up to look for this person. "The Gym Leader would most likely be near his Gym or the Pokémon Center. Try looking for him near those two places and inform us of it once you found him. I believe we should leave the actual negotiation to the Eclipse Admin here. We would likely have one shot at convincing him to help us, and we do not have much time to waste. The end of the world is not going to wait around while we waste away our precious time."

With these last words, he ran off. Even if he was here for the first time, finding the Pokémon Center or the Gym of this city was not going to be difficult. The people would be likely to be heading for shelter or protection, and one of the two places was bound to be used as a stronghold. All he need was to look for this crowd, and he would likely find the man that he was searching for. This was only the first step of this little trip, and he certainly hoped that this would not be his last trip. He wondered for a moment about the whereabouts of Evy, but he knew that it was useless. He would have to step up on his efforts after this whole mess. But first this whole mess had to be dealt with, and the first roadblock was this Gym Leader. If he were to assist them, the second roadblock might just be a little easier.

Staying far away from MM and his top hat

Darius sat in the plane, taking in what had recently occured. He remembered being on the verge of finally being accepted into Team Twilight before the black plane of which he was now a passenger had landed at Tarocco Island. His tester had told him that their battle would be concluded at a later date, then vanished. A small group of individuals with a man in black at their head had approached him. They looked quite intimidating, as they had each had a Pokémon at their side. At first he had wanted to run, for the every member of the group seemed to have a grim expression on their faces, but he figured that this was due to the recent cataclysm involving the release of Solipsus. Every day, reports had come in of cities and towns being attacked. As the group approached him, he began to see the individual members more distinctly.

Wearing a similar uniform to the lead trainer was a boy who appeared to be fairly close to his age, perhaps a bit older. He had a large tiger-like Pokémon walking beside him. There were some strange medals on his uniform, including three that looked like gym badges. A trainer not wearing a black uniform walked slightly behind him. This trainer was older, looking to be in his early to mid-twenties. He had a Pokémon that Darius recognized, an Absol, out of its Pokeball. Slightly in front of those two, and even with the leader, was another who was not wearing a uniform. He was young like Darius and the other trainer in black, but he had a powerful feeling of self-confidence about him. He seemed quite strong and easygoing, as he was the only one out of the group that was not wearing an extremely serious look upon his face, but rather a subtle half-smile, as if he were on an everyday stroll in the park. He had a tough-looking bird Pokémon out that Darius did not recognize due to his inexperience. Walking slightly behind the rest of the group was a brooding young man. He too did not wear the black uniform, but even without conversing with him, one could tell that black would match his personality perfectly. He possesed short brown hair and strange eyes that seemed to glint with rapid thought yet remain cold at the same time. A tall white-and-blue Pokémon walked to his left. At the head of the group walked a another trainer in a black uniform. Despite his young appearance, it was fairly obvious that he was the strongest of the group by his black uniform, which seemed to be more decorative and indicated a higher rank than the plainer uniform of the other uniformed trainer. His had a great deal of medals on it, and it appeared that he had 8 badges. The angry-looking Volcronic that marched at his side was evidence enough of his strength. Finally, they reached where Darius was standing.

"You are Darius Syndell?" The lead man asked. Darius timidly replied with an answer of yes...

"Get up, we are about to arrive at our drop point."

Darius awoke with a start to realize that the plane was descending. The trainer who had been sitting next to him was lightly shaking him. What was his name? I think he said Malkier when I first sat down. He sat up straight and rubbed his eyes, for the flight had been a long one. The trainer who had identified himself as a Great Shadow of Team Eclipse, Da Dood, was standing at the front of the cabin, eyeing each passenger. Darius still didn't understand why they had picked him, of all people, to join their squad as they fought to save the world from imminent destruction. It was quite obvious that he was the weakest trainer of the group, and there were surely better candidates to choose from. Why me? he thought. What do I have to offer that someone else doesn't? Perhaps they were going to use him as a sacrifice to be eaten by Solipsus while the others ambushed the beast from behind. He wouldn't put it past them to do such a deed. And yet he had not tried to flee before. A strange calm had taken him over, just as it was now that the plane had landed. Darius filed out of the plane with the rest of the trainers. Da Dood instructed them to form a line, which they reluctantly did. Darius saw a man getting up off of a rock out of the corner of his right eye. As he came further into view, it was clear to Darius that it was this man, not Da Dood, who was in charge here. He was also rather young, but his eyes were the eyes of one who had experience much, and his uniform made that clear. His was obviously the uniform of a team leader, as it was festooned with medals, and had streaks of red on the arms and sides. He silently approached the line of trainers. Da Dood instructed Darius and the others to salute Stephen Rissen, Dark Admiral of Team Eclipse. The other member of Team Eclipse, the one who called himself Pojo, snapped his arm up into a salute nearly instantly. Darius and the rest of the group slowly followed, but it seemed that Stephen noticed our inconsistency. He did not say anything of it though, and instead beckoned us closer. He began to speak in a rapid, flat tone:

"Some of you may know me, but for those who don't, I lead Team Eclipse. I have summoned you here to aid me in stopping the destruction of our world. As you know, Solipsus is a being that can absorb other creatures and even whole buildings, as was seen in Bountai. He will be nearly impossible to stop."

"Wait, we are here to try and stop that thing?! There's no way any of us will be able to hurt something that big!" The trainer named Malkier blurted out.

"Silence." Stephen replied. "I have experienced much more than you have, and have defeated creatures with terrible powers. We may have a chance if we can appeal to the great diety Valyth for help."

"Valyth?" The trainer named Jermey said, "Valyth is unpredictable. He's more likely to kill us all than do our bidding."

Darius couldn't help but agree with Jermey on that point. He doubted that the diety of valor would listen to them. "Even if we got Valyth to help us, do are you sure he alone could beat Solipsus?" Darius said cautiously.

"This has been accounted for. This squadron is part of a much larger effort, with all four teams involved. Our past relationships with the other group have not always been... productive, but we have agreed to set aside our differences for a common goal."

upon hearing this, Pojo's facial expression changed to one of great disdain. "But how can we trust the other teams?" he said.

"Yes, they could just as easily back out at the last second and put us against Solipsus by ourselves. They've had it out for us from the beginning!"

"How are we even going to get to Valyth anyway? He may have been last see here, but he could be anywhere in this area. We don't even know where to start!"

At this point, the members of the squadron began to raise their voices. Each person started shouting out their own opinions. Stephen began shouting as well, attempting to restore order, when Darius saw the trainer to the left of him moving his lips. He was talking very quietly, not attempting ot get anyone's attention. Stephen saw this and roared "SHUT UP!" at the top of his lungs. Everyone fell silent soon after that.

"Your name is...?" he asked.

"...Zarke..."

"Do you have a suggestion, Zarke?"

"...Well, rather than running straight into battle recklessly, I belive we should devise a strategy first. There is a gym leader here in this city, so we should go and see if he is capable of offering us assitance in this battle."

"You make a good point. The gym leader here goes by the name of Sol. We should try to gain his alleigiance as quickly as possible." Stephen said. Darius and the rest of them agree with Zarke's proposed first step. The group began to split off to look for him, when Zarke piped up once again:

"...The gym leader will most likely near his gym or the Pokémon center. Try looking for him near those two places and inform us of it once you found him. I believe we should leave the actual negotiation to the Eclipse Admin here. We would likely have one shot at convincing him to help us, and we do not have much time to waste. The end of the world is not going to wait around while we waste away our precious time."

At this, the group split off to search for the gym leader. Darius tried to find the tall arena that would signify a Pokémon gym. His thoughts were racing around in his head at the past events. Why am I here? How will we get Valyth to do what we want? and most prevalently, Will I survive the end of the world? Only time would tell.

I was silent for my entire ride in the chopper. The pilot landed me down at an Eclipse air base in a secret location. When I exited, I was quickly met by the highest ranking officer present. He had a stern look on his face as he briefed me on the mission that I would be undertaking. "Sir. The other members of Eclipse have assembled and are preparing to fly out to Ponamu City, Valyth's last reported location." I paid him no mind and started throwing on my official Eclipse uniform. I never really wore it except for missions. But now, I could show off my new sparklies on it from my recent promotion. The officer continued, "We've also enlisted the help of some Lone Wolves, trainers that are unaffiliated with any team, in order to heighten our chances of success." I frowned at this. Sure, we weren't the greatest team in terms of numbers, but we could damn well sure take anything in our path down. Could we even really trust them?

...Like we could trust anyone after what Tajiro has done.

Once I was fully decked out in my mission gear and outfit, the officer directed me out onto the airstrip, where a private transport unit was preparing for takeoff. It appeared that I had been the last to arrive, as when I boarded the vessel, the 5 other trainers that were accompanying us on the flight had already taken their seats. I looked them over. Two popped out to me instantly. I recognized the only other Eclipse member joining us on the trek, Pojo. He gave me a salute, which I returned. The other that I recognized was Jeremy. I had remembered seeing him in missions past, notably the New Island expedition. The others on the plane were unkown to me. I took out a roster that the officer handed to me as the transport plane began it's takeoff. I quickly took a seat and looked it over.

Joining us were three... well, rather inexperienced trainers. Zarke Delifathe, Age 22. His team looked to be relatively strong for his location upon extraction, which was a good show of strength. He looked largely disinterested in what was happening, however, opting to stare out the window for long periods of time. I moved on. Malkier, age 25. His team was stronger still, and even included many, many rarities, including his own Absol. Must've got it from the Abyss, I thought. He appeared to be more attentive than the others on the plane, and repeatedly looked it over. I don't like the shifty eyes on this one. Though, maybe we could use him to our advantage as a scout, I pondered. Last on the list was a very young trainer, yet still older than me at 16, Darius Syndell. Damn my youth, I thought, while looking over his roster choices. I sighed to myself. He didn't have much, though the Antrax looked appealing. He was deep in thought in the back of the plane.

Satisfied, I released Baron to stand watch over them while I finally got back to that rest I had been wanting to take for hours now.

~~~
A nudge from Baron and a message displaying through my communicator roused my from my sleep. I was able to decipher that we would be approaching Ponamu soon. Stretching, I rose from my seat and approached the rest of the squadron and rounded them up while we descended upon the great city of Zeralis. Can't wait to come back here later and get a badge...
The plane touched down on the ground and the group followed me out of the exit. Immediately I eyed Stephen approaching from the distance. When we neared, I gave a salute and ordered the rest to do the same. Only Pojo followed suit, to my dismay and slight rage. Stephen began addressing the group, while I zoned out, eyeing the city up and thinking about all the shit I'd do to Tajiro once I got my hands on him. Just as I was pondering how much it would hurt to melt your foot off, the sound of shouting snapped me out of my trance. I looked over to see Stephen telling the grunts to quiet down while Zarke formulated a plan. "Well, rather than running straight into battle recklessly, I belive we should devise a strategy first. There is a gym leader here in this city, so we should go and see if he is capable of offering us assitance in this battle," he said. A good plan, one that was simple enough for these mindless drones to follow without causing too much trouble. Stephen agreed.
And thus, we set off into the concrete jungle hunting down whatever people we could find, and hopefully, Valyth along with them...
ALL GLORY TO THE HYPNOTOAD
 *  *  *  *  *  *  *  *
I sat in the rear of the plane, away from the others. Not out of disrespect, but because I didn't know these people. I had seen a couple of them from afar on my other outings to Zeralis. But my past interactions with them were nonexistent. So I sat, and watched; trying to figure out the rest of the group I now found myself with...
--------------------------------------------
The flight was long...no matter how many times one travels from the Orange Islands to Zeralis, and back...it doesn't get any shorter. I need to find a Pokémon that knows teleport to make these trips easier...or stop getting side tracked on my own mission. But one can't ignore the danger the whole world was in now. Not with Solipsus free and wrecking havoc. And so, I volunteered to help in any way I can.
An announcement came up that we were about to arrive at Ponamu. I sat up and nudged another one of the members of the group awake and waited for the plane to land.
As we exited the plane another person approached and...what was his name? Da Dood, ordered us to salute him. Not really seeing the need, as I wasn't a part of their team, and only helping out, I only halfheartedly did so. I'm not sure if the newcomer even noticed, although Da Dood certainly looked like he was about to drop a load in a toilet.
The one who approached the plane addressed himself as Stephen, the leader of Team Eclipse. He also told us of his plan to confront Valyth in order to stop Solipsus. That was when all hell broke loose and everyone started arguing, myself included. Some of the ideas this group was having were preposterous...
"SHUT UP!"
We all became quiet and Stephen prodded the only one who had not spoken or argue to say what was on his mind. Ask the local Gym Leader for help? Seemed like the best idea this group has had in the last few minutes on how to find and confront Valyth. With that, the group split up, several hunting for the gym, and the others trying to find the Pokémon Center of this town, all in hopes of finding the Gym Leader.
I set off in search of the Pokémon Center, an old song, that I can't remember how I know it, began going through my head. It's the end of the world as we know it...and I feel fine... But I didn't feel fine. Not at all...
Jeremy sat quietly and kept mostly to himself during the ride on the chopper. He was in a group of 7, comprising 3 Eclipse members and 4 Lone wolves. Jeremy did not know everyone on board the chopper but he had come across a few of them in the previous expeditions. Considering that this mission was probably the toughest to date, Jeremy wanted to make sure that he knew more about his team members so that they would have a bit of chemistry within the team. He had done some research and was busy checking out the profiles of his teammates.
Stephen, the Dark Admiral of Team Eclipse, was the leader of the group. He seemed to be held in high regard as fellow Eclipse members Da Dood and Pojo saluted him almost instantaneously as he appeared. He had a calm and collected demeanor which was an important quality that a leader should possess. Da Dood, the Great Shadow of Team Eclipse, was familiar as they had met before. Jeremy gave him a little smile as Da Dood boarded the plane.
The rest were unknown qualities. Pojo, Zarke, Malkier and Darius. Their teams did not look particularly strong but Jeremy was fully aware that he should not be too quick to make judgments.
Turning to his own team, Jeremy decided to bring along a team of experienced veterans with the exception being Fercoa. He was hoping that his battle-hardened pokemons would pull through again and lend much needed strength to the team. Fercoa would add the zest and enthusiasm which should come in handy as the battle draws close.
------------------------
As the chopper landed, Jeremy roused his team of Burrash, Talonite, Nebulion, Vollav, Tsunamic and Fercoa. The excitement in him was burning and he had a feeling that he would be in for something he would never have expected.
Ponamu City was largely deserted, it was eerie seeing such a large city so empty. The group made their way to the large gym just a few blocks away from the Pokémon Center. Its large, crimson-colored doors were closed and locked, and all of the windows were covered. Stephen and a few others banged their fists loudly against the doors for a few moments, and stood back.
A loud roar echoed from the opposite side of the doors; a few of the trainers looked at each other and at Stephen nervously, but none budged. Finally, the doors opened wide enough to allow the squad to see a young man with long, dark red hair and a Flareth crouched in a defensive position beside him. And behind them was a strange robot that looked oddly like a Groudon- that had been the source of the roar.
Sol looked at the squad with bright, alert eyes. "What do you want?"
"You are Sol I presume," Stephen said, "Well, since we are running low on time I will cut to the chase. I am Stephen, the dark admiral of Team Eclipse. That's right 'the' Team Eclipse," He smirked as Sol gripped a pokeball tightly in his hand, "There's no sense in foolish battling; we are here to help you."
Sol's eyes lost a bit of the fire in them, but Stephen could tell that there was no trust in them. "How can I believe that?" He inquired.
Stephen brushed a strand of hair from out of his face, "Do you really have any other choice? If Valyth attacks this city will be left in ruins; and who will fight it? You? You couldn't stand up to it alone and I doubt there are many capable battlers hiding in this city. If there were they'd probably be doing something." Then the Eclipse Leader saw a giant robot that looked awfully familiar in the background and he grinned. "We need your help as much as you need ours."
"What kind of help would you want if I was to work with you?" Sol responded.
"Well my plan involves you letting us borrow that Groudon. We want to pair it up against Valyth and then, after it is weakened, I take it down. You see, Valyth will only respect, and possibly listen to, a trainer who can defeat it. Without Groudon there is no hope of achieving that."
"And what will Valyth be used for?"
"Saving the world," Stephen said, sticking out his hand, "Do we have a deal?"
Sol opened the doors wider now and gave a weak smile. "Well, it may look strikingly like a Groudon but it's probably not as strong, so I hope you're ready for a long battle then. Back up a bit, I'll have to open both doors and hope it can fit through," he said, and pushed the doors opened as far as they would go and ran back inside.
In a few minutes, the sounds of the mecha-Groudon's gears turning could be heard as the machine walked slowly, head lowered, through the doors and out towards the Eclipse squad. Sol stepped out again behind it holding a small remote control. He showed the squad how to use it and handed the controller to Stephen.
"And this button here is for the roars and cries," he finished after a few minutes' explanation.
"Won't Valyth realize it's a fake?" Malkier asked.
Sol shrugged. "The roars were recorded and digitally altered from a real Groudon's, and can be heard from a fair distance, so if Valyth is as proud as everyone says he should at least be curious enough to check it out. But I'm going to ask that you take the battle to the edge of the city. Perhaps by the abandoned factory, that will give you places to hide to ambush Valyth if he does show up for Groudon," he said. He turned back to the gym, locked the doors once again, and came back to the squad.
"I'll come with you. Let's go."
Stephen guided the Mecha-Groudon slowly towards the abandoned factory and the group followed the robot. "If Valyth does decide to attack the abandoned factory that place is going to get torn to pieces," Darius muttered.
"Yeah, it will," Malkier replied, and then the group walked on in dead silence.
"These buildings are preventing me from seeing much of anything," Stephen thought to himself, "If Valyth were to attack us we'd never see it coming. We'd be doomed," He shook the dreadful thought out of his head and continued to guide the robot. After what seemed like hours of watching the robot slowly lurch forward they arrived at the factory.
Sol walked forward and opened the factory doors, "You can go in if it suits your plan."
"Yeah, we'll go in, but we're going to leave this monster," Stephen said, motioning towards the Mecha-Groudon, "here." The factory moaned and creaked as they entered, and Stephen instantly began shouting out commands that echoed all around them. "Everybody that has a flying Pokémon send them out!" After a series of red flashes a wide array of flying Pokémon were standing in front of their trainers. "Okay, you, you, you, and uh, you return your flying Pokémon. to their pokeballs," he said pointing to Zarke, Pojo, Darius, and Malkier. "You guys will stay down here with Sol and carry out one part of my plan while the rest of us will carry out the other part up there." He motioned towards the large window above the factory door. "Okay, guys let's go up there!"
Ares, Stephen's Talonite, made getting up to the window a quick and simple job, but luckily Dood and Jeremy weren't too far behind. "Okay you two," Stephen began, "My plan is simplistic in theory, but I'm sure Valyth will complicate it. The other squad is going to try and attack Valyth from behind Groudon, and, while Valyth is distracted by them, we ambush it. First we'll try to cripple it using electrical and ice attacks and then we'll truly strike. Understand?" His two companions nodded, "Now I have to tell the others what to do, so I'll be right back."
Stephen landed in front of the other group, "Now here is your part of my plan. When Valyth goes to attack Groudon you all must stand behind it and attack it with ranged attacks and only ranged attacks. This will keep Valyth occupied and the rest of us will be able to ambush it while it's blinded with fury. Hopefully it'll be blinded by fury. You guys understand what you must do right? Remember ranged attacks and nothing else!" He turned to go, but then turned around and said, "If Groudon falls, and Valyth is still able to attack at full power, than you must run into the factory and save yourselves."
Stephen then walked away and summoned out his whole team, "You guys go and assist Jeremy and Dood with their ambush on Valyth; I have other things to do," He sadly watched his team, except for Ares, go up to where the other two trainers were. Hopefully this wasn't the last time he saw them, "Ares, take me to the factory roof, " He commanded.
Upon arriving on top of the factory Stephen grabbed the remote for Groudon, "It's time," he thought. He had Mecha-Groudon raise its head to the sky and give a tremendous roar. A roar that was sure to bring a challenger.
"If this doesn't get Valyth's attention then we have to resort to Plan B; I hate my Plan B."
Zarke smiled a little bitterly at this turn of events, as he stood outside the abandoned factory on the outskirts of the city. Even if they had managed to obtain the aid of the gym leader, this was but the first part of the mission. Taking down Valyth, or at least an attempt to weaken the deity enough for it to listen to reason was something that was near unreasonable. There were reasons why they were known as the legendaries of Zeralis and they were worshiped as deities by the people in times long past. But then, Valyth, the Deity of Valor, was likely to be of no match to the God of Destruction Solipsus. Perhaps, the three deities need to be gathered.
Looking out over the mechanical Groudon that the Gym Leader of Ponamu had loaned over to them, he was more than a little interested in the workings of the machine. Groudon was one of the legendaries from the Hoenn Region, and certainly, it held a great deal of power as the one who created land. But this was just an imitation, a mere mockery of the true being, and it was bound to be of no match to the Valor Deity. If the two were to battle straight-on, the winner was long already decided. However, the fact that someone had managed to even replicate the Pokémon thus far was amazing, and he wished he had the time to study it carefully. This would teach him a lot more about the legendary Pokémon Groudon, a knowledge that he had found lacking on. No doubt that the Midlight Watch had more than just a hand in this.
But even so, this Groudon was a potential challenger to Valyth, and the dark bird of prey was bound to answer to the challenge. And this was definitely no one-on-one battle in any case. If things were to go well, this was going to be an ambush on their part. And they had to strike hard and fast, with this mechanical Groudon leading the first blow. If this plan was to ever work, the first blow had to be the last. The deity would likely spare no effort in destroying them, and certainly, the Ponamu Gym Leader Sol was perhaps little more than a little stone in its path.
Releasing all but one of his Pokémon, Zarke knew of his position in this plan. They were to issue a direct frontal assault, nothing more than to distract the giant bird. The main strength of this assault would come from Sol and his Groudon, but this might be for naught. The only chance was that the ambush from behind would succeed in grounding Valyth. One shot, and that was all they had. Facing the deity head-on was bound to unnerve anyone, and the legendary Pokémon certainly was bound to have pressure on any Pokémon who dared to stand against it.
Looking over his Pokémon, he noted the only absence among that. Karama, the warrior Pokémon, was of no match in this match. Physical strikes were likely to be of no use, and he needed ranged attacks. Striking from afar was the only tactic that had a change of working as the Deity of Valor would destroy any who get even vaguely close. Crouching them to his Pokémon, he briefed them on the necessary tactics for the upcoming futile battle. He had only one out, but he knew that it was unlikely that he would have the time to use if the need came. But perhaps fate would finally smile upon them, though he had his doubts.
Hardening his face into a grim look, Zarke watched carefully as the mechanical Pokémon unleashed a great roar. The challenge had been issued and all that was need was for the opponent to answer. Valyth would undoubtedly had the decisive advantage, but if they could take it by surprise, this battle might just be half-won. Except that he knew that it was more than just a little unlikely. He wished that Evy was around to help him, though he knew that she would not be of much help. But her presence would be comforting. A beloved partner that had stood beside him through his past challenges. He grimly looked on, and waited. The deity would be here, and the battle would be upon them. He could only hope that the situation would not suddenly take a turn for the worse...
On the other side, the trainer who went by the name of Pojo was also preparing for the upcoming battle as he released all of his Pokémon, including a fearsome Aerodactyl. Even if the flying Pokémon was not capable of unleashing any ranged attacks, it was still a formidable Pokémon, and the darkish pressure it exerts might be useful in the battle against the deity of valor. But even so, his Pokémon as well as those of Zarke might not be close to enough to make a hole in the health of Valyth. And so it was, a desperate struggle would begin as soon as the deadly bird of prey arrived. Zarke could only pray that they would live to see the dawn of the next day, if he was the praying type to begin.
Mecha-Groudon versus Valyth...this match up seemed rather too much like one of those cheesy Godzilla movies where it's fighting it's mechanical double. The mecha always got its butt tore to shreads, so Malkier was having doubts about this plan. But to be fair, the mecha always lasted long enough to do it's job, so maybe there was hope for this plan after all.
Malkier glanced into the abandoned factory to see if there were any useful items laying about in there but could not make out much. Several large, broke down machines obscured his view from the entrance. Stephen had already had the Mecha-Groudon issue it's challenge so he did not have time to check it out further.
Turning back around he released all his Pokémon and began instructing his team on what to do when the Deity of Valor showed up.
His Platail was to use Water Gun.
Froslass was to use Icy Wind.
Solarion was to hit Valyth with a Sand-Attack in hopes of blinding the beast long enough for the plan to work.
Aerodactyl would use Supersonic,
Absol was instructed to use Razor Wind.
Malkier knew his team didn't have the strongest ranged attacks, but he hoped they would help just enough, along with the Pokémon of his other 3 companions down here on the ground. He held his Larvitar in reserve next to him, and made plans for it to use Sandstorm to cover their tracks if, and when, they'd have to flee from Valyth's rage.
He wasn't about to take a chance that Valyth would not attack with their backs turned if they had to run into the factory.
Jeremy was clear about Stephen's plan. He and Da Dood were going to ambush Valyth. Now all that was left to be done was for Valyth to appear and for the other 4 members to distract it with ranged attacks. Jeremy knew that it was not going to be as simple as it sounded. It might seem slightly idealistic that their plan would go through without a hitch but this seemed the best that they could muster for the time being.
Jeremy closed his eyes for a second and said a prayer. All had to go well or it'll be the end of them. He was going to wait patiently and observe the moves of Valyth. When the opportunity arose, he was going to strike. Nebulion was out of its pokeball and was preparing for the battle that lay ahead. Sensing any loss in concentration of Valyth, Nebulion would strike with a full-blooded shockwave that would knock the daylights out of Valyth.
Meanwhile, Jeremy called Talonite out of its Pokémon. Perched right next to him, the eagle would warn him when Valyth neared...
Staying far away from MM and his top hat
As Darius watched the mechanical Groudon give off a mighty roar, he suddenly felt fortunate to be here to witness the conflict that was to unfold imminently. Of the trainers he had met in the early portion of his journey, it was he and likely he alone that would be here to watch this machine attempt to fight one of the most powerful creatures on earth. The mecha-groudon looked strong now, sure, but it would likely look quite a bit more fragile when Valyth arrived. He walked over to the area behind the Groudon where the other three members that held the same job as he were gathered. Stephen had already given them their instructions, now they were simply waiting for Valyth to answer the challenge.
During this small lull, he took the time to survey the members of his team that were near him. It struck him once again how weak he was in comparison to everyone else, but it didn't last as long as it did when he was daydreaming on the plane. He saw them all giving commands to their Pokémon for when Valyth struck, so he called out the neccesary Pokémon and gave them their instructions:
Pattle is to use Bubble
Swablu is to use Featherstorm
Antrax is to use Acid
Wombo is to use Dark Pulse
Elekid is to use Thundershock
I hope this works...
The Groudon roars echoed through the city for a few minutes, breaking the eerie silence and causing the ground around the robot's feet to tremble from the loud sounds. The trainers waiting behind the Groudon looked around anxiously, expecting the terrible, piercing screech to echo from the sky at any moment.
And then it did.
The dark shape was flying fast and losing altitude; as it came nearer, it began circling the roaring Groudon, curious as to what the creature could be. The robot raised its head and let out a final roar before Valyth had enough taunting. It dove, ready to slash out with its cruel beak, and with a press of a button, a tremendous blast of fire suddenly burst from the Groudon's mouth, colliding with Valyth as it dove low. The bird screeched in surprise and glared at the Groudon before tearing at it with its draconic talons. As it went for the Groudon, the group behind the mecha jumped out as their Pokémon launched a volley of attacks from all directions.
Valyth screeched again and looked wildly about. Electric, ice, fire, grass... all sorts of attacks were striking the great bird. It lashed out at its closest opponent, a Gazalaxy, knocking the dark Pokémon back, but more Pokémon were all around and attacking it now. Sol's Pokémon alone were creating an impressive wall of fire around the bird, and it was forced to land before it could take off into the air again....
The battle had began too quickly. Valyth struck from the sky quickly, but Stephen had enough time to have the Groudon use a fire blast. Valyth nearly flinched from the attack, but then it slashed at the robot using its claws. That would leave a mark. Valyth was then attacked by the ground squad, but it fought back and dealt quite a few powerful hits. Sol's strategy of forcing it to land was perfect.
Valyth had landed, so it was time to strike. Stephen had the Mecha-Groudon attack using Stone Edge in hope that it would keep Valyth on the ground. Then Kyrii received my mental signs that he quickly sent her and started the ambush. Soon there were thunderbolts raining out of the sky and striking Valyth, but that didn't seem to phaze it enough. "Maybe if we keep it up..." Stephen was getting doubtful. "Ares, soon we'll have to go into true battle. Are you ready?"
Valyth was down, but it wasn't out. The others in the group seemed to be doing a good job attacking it at the moment, so Malkier ordered his Pokémon to switch to crippling moves on the beast to help the others out. His froslass, absol, and larvitar all Leered at Valyth, while Solarion tail whipped, hoping to lower its defenses, and Plattail yawned and aerodactly used scary face.
Ares screeched in response as Valyth sent out a pulse of dark energy below, knocking all the nearby trainers and Pokémon to their feet. It struggled around the jagged rocks that tore into its wings and cried out in fury and pain again as still more attacks flew at it. But they were coming in smaller bursts now; a good deal of the Pokémon had been knocked out in just one hit from the great, dark Legendary.
Stephen looked up as another bolt of electricity shot out of the sky and struck Valyth. Then another... it was two in quick succession, bright gold bolts, much more powerful looking than Kyrii's previous attacks, which were already pretty impressive.
Was it really Kyrii?
Valyth looked around wildly for the source of the attack, temporarily ignoring the other Pokémon's attacks. It appeared on the Groudon's head in the form of a small yellow and striped creature with a golden crest on its forehead and a mane and tail of sparkling, bright electrical energy. Valyth tried to straighten itself up and screeched at the small Pokémon as it launched a blade of dark energy at it, but the nimble Pokémon darted out of the way in a bolt of lightning and landed on the roof of the factory near Stephen. Valyth screeched again, but the Pokémon only looked ahead of him, towards west, where thick clouds were gathering. It leaped into the air and darted off towards the northwest.
Meanwhile, the dark clouds began swirling and moving closer; they were much lower than they should have been. Lightning sparked and crackled through the clouds as they approached, and Valyth suddenly began a renewed effort to escape into the air again. Just as it freed itself from the jagged rocks and Pokémon and soared into the air, two simultaneous attacks, an icy beam and a powerful thunderbolt, shot forward from the cloud to strike the great bird. It cried out as it crashed to the ground, and the clouds slowly began parting.
In the center of the clouds stepped a large, white paw, and as the clouds fell away they revealed an immense Pokémon with a cloudy, billowing mane and a long, sky blue tail. Even Ares stopped watching Valyth and stopped to stare at the Pokémon stepping forward through the clouds.
Valyth... Remember...
Astrelleo stepped forward, and Valyth screeched louder than ever. Astrelleo roared back, and the two stood staring at each other, daring their opponent to make another move.
The battle had been going badly until it arrived. It being Ellaith, the one who had entrusted this orb to Stephen. Before it vanished into the clouds Stephen could have sworn that the electric Pokémon nodded at him. After Ellaith vanished it was soon replaced by something far greater; something Stephen had not seen before, but he knew what is was. Astrelleo. The two great legendaries began to have a menacing staring contest, so Stephen began to formulate a plan.
He saw a team dressed in purple suddenly appear in the area; Twilight must have chased Astrelleo here. When a couple of the people pulled out orbs and handed them to their Pokémon Stephen had a plan. "Extee, Athena!" He called, and his two Pokémon came flying to him. "You two go down to the Twilight squad and try to convince them to lend you the orbs. Do this calmly and peacefully. Extee use your telepathic powers to tell them that I have a plan, but to go through with it I need the orbs. Bring the holders along if you must." Then he turned to Ares, "Go to Dood and get his orb and if he refuses to give it up bring me him."
As the flying Pokémon departed Stephen was lost in thought, "If the orbs give a single Pokémon far greater power than what they would normally posses, I wonder how much power four orbs would give a Pokémon." He pulled off the yellow orb from around his neck, "We'll see."
The two Pokémon departed, and Stephen turned to watch the impending battle unfold.
Astrelleo straightened up, never taking his blue eyes off of Valyth, who lowered his neck and screeched yet again. Astrelleo let out a series of low growls, but Valyth only clicked its beak in response, paying no heed to the wise Pokémon. The few remaining Pokémon behind the Groudon robot (which had since been tipped over by the great bird) jumped up and valiantly launched a few more attacks. Valyth spun around and aimed a pulse of dark energy at the lot, but Astrelleo suddenly let out a roar and a bolt of electricity that intercepted the attack and created a small explosion before the Pokémon and trainers could be hit.
Valyth turned back to Astrelleo, its eyes filled with anger and hatred, and without warning, flew forward in a large, black blur. He crashed into Astrelleo, who was caught off guard, and tore at the lion Pokémon with its glowing, razor-sharp beak. Astrelleo was knocked into the side of the factory, crashing through the wall and exposing various machine parts and wires that tore and sparked as the large Pokémon collapsed into them. Valyth screeched gleefully and soared into the air as Astrelleo winced in pain as he tried to regain his stance.
The dark bird circled overhead, crying out to Astrelleo and charging up another attack. Astrelleo looked around, and placed a paw against one of the exposed generators in the ruined wall as he wrapped his tail around a few of the wires. The white Pokémon bristled with electricity as he did so until his mane was crackling like a tremendous thundercloud. A few of the trainers stepped back as they realized what Astrelleo was planning; Valyth, though, was too headstrong to notice, and dove at the lion once again.
With a tremendous roar, an enormous, blindingly bright thunderbolt erupted from Astrelleo's mane and struck Valyth in mid-air; the super-charged attack left the dark bird charred, and he collapsed to the ground with a thud. Valyth opened his eyes, but before he could move Astrelleo was in the air, leaping effortlessly above the factory wreckage and Valyth, and sending an icy beam around the bird, trapping it. Astrelleo landed and lowered his head so he was eye to eye with the furious Valyth, and roared yet again. Valyth opened his mouth to launch still another attack, but Astrelleo placed a firm paw on top of the bird's beak, leaving him completely helpless.
By now, the two Twilight orb holders were heading towards Stephen, guided by his two Pokémon and Mewthree, who leapt beside astrelleo and held out his arms in a defensive stance. Valyth finally stopped struggling as the rest of the two squads approached, but his red eyes never left Astrelleo, who returned the stare with his crystal blue ones. Finally, as the orb holders approached Astrelleo, he took his eyes off the bird and looked at the four of them and the rest of the squads, and let out a single, low growl to communicate with them, and they understood what he meant even without words.
Speak.
Astrelleo said to speak, so that was what Stephen was going to do, "Astrelleo, you are undoubtedly powerful, but you as powerful as you are trying to make yourself appear. Through my tactics Valyth was weakened enough for you to thrash around like that. Without me it would have weakened you quite a bit." He said this all after a Twilight member had asked for its help. "I do thank you for weakening it like this, though, cause I wish to talk to it and that was difficult while it was nearly at full power." Astrelleo just glared at him, but Stephen just cleared his throat calmly, "Now if you would be so kind as to release it, so I can talk to sense into it. If you don't let me do that then it is guaranteed you will perish through Solipsus' wrath. You posses wisdom all men crave and you should know that I am telling what I believe to be the truth," He paused and then added, "If you are truly wise you will not hinder me."
Astrelleo watched the two trainers, one a young Twilight member and the other the leader of Eclipse, for a moment after they were finished speaking. He looked at Stephen and seemed to chuckle and shake his head as he removed his paw from Valyth's beak; the ice around it was cracking and melting. He turned and took a step towards Ricky and the other Twilight squad, and sat down, as Valyth looked briefly at the great lion a final time and then turned to face Stephen.
After my speech Astrelleo seemed to grin as it lifted its large paw off of Valyth, "Is it laughing at me?" Stephen wondered.
His thoughts were disrupted as one of his squad members tapped him on the shoulder. It was Malkier. "Uh, you do realize that you just freed Valyth who could probably tear us to shreds despite its weakened state?"
"Yeah, I know what I did," Stephen said calmly.
"Well, uh... Oh, forget about it," He muttered.
As Malkier walked away Dood walked up and whispered, "Should we do anything about Team Twilight? They stepped in somewhere they had no right to."
"Leave them," He paused for dramatic effect, "they are insignificant to us at this very moment and, while they did interrupt us, they helped me accomplish my goal." He then turned to the rest of the squad, "Listen to me! I want all of us to assist Valyth so it can regain itself. Melt the remaining ice from its wings; help it off the ground; blow the rubble cloaking it away. Now!"
Stephen watched as Athena and the other fire Pokémon melted away the remaining ice from the dark bird's wings, being careful not to singe Valyth. Then all the psychic Pokémon joined their power and lifted the great bird to its feet and finally all the bird Pokémon created a giant gust of wind that knocked the rubble off of Valyth. With it restored it was time for the confrontation.
Stephen slowly walked up to Valyth, who lowered his head to glare into Stephen's eyes, but the human's gaze did not waver. Instead he began to speak with the utmost calmness, "Truly a magnificent battle, but it became unfair for you. I apologize for that because it stole the victory that should have been yours. If not for Astrelleo we would have perished; therefore, I deem you greater than myself. I would continue praising you, but there is no more time for that. Solipsus is rampaging and you must join with the other deities to stop it. He is truly an opponent who is worthy to fight you.
Valyth remained silent and continued glaring at Stephen with its bright red eyes.
"I see that you are the silent type, " Stephen said, coolly, "but that is good because I am not finished yet. If you decide to deny me my request I will never cease to remind you that you are in my debt. I convinced Astrelleo there to let you go. If you decide to work with me I will see if this, " He held up his yellow orb, "can restore your power; however, you don't get to keep it. Only one touch will be given to you."
Valyth was starting to look mildly interested now.
"If you join me I will require you to evaluate yourself. You must decide if you can be trusted to fight until the end as a free Pokémon. if you decide you can't," Stephen held up a pokeball, "but I promise you your freedom after this whole ordeal. Do you accept or have anything to add to my proposal? Please respond in some way that isn't glaring at me because I just feel like an idiot when you don't respond to my speech." As Stephen waited for Valyth to do something he turned to his squad, "Anything to add guys? You are all a bit too quiet."
Malkier
ALL GLORY TO THE HYPNOTOAD
 *  *  *  *  *  *  *  *
Malkier walked away from Stephen and Valyth, seeing as how Eclipse's leader seemed to be in control...or thought he was; he seemed kind of full of himself. Power must really go to one's head.
He walked back to the rest of the group and studied the newcomers. They all were dressed in purple robes. As he scanned the other group, he stopped in his tracks and gripped one of his pokeballs tight in his hand. What was he doing here?
Bandar Eban was standing in the middle of the other group. Sure his clothes were different and his hair was waaaaay longer than the last time he saw the man who had some clues to his forgotten past.
Malkier strode forward with a scowl on his face, and his rival seemed to have sensed his presence as he turned and looked at him, his expression changing to a scowl also, and strode foward to meet. As both men came together, they both punched each other in the face at the same time and said "Why are you following me?" However, Malkier added "Bandar" to the end of his question and the other said "Machera".
Once again, both spoke at the same time. "Who is that? Stop copying me! I'm not copying you." Both grabbed a Pokeball off of their belts, but by that time, others of each group had grabbed each of them and were pulling them away from each other.
As the others pulled Malkier back to the rest of their group, Pojo asked "what was that all about?"
Malkier looked back to the man he almost had a battle with. "Nothing I want to share at the moment..."
What is his game? Bandar Eban actually looked surprised when I called him by his name...as if he had never heard the name before...
By this time, Stephen had turned around, unaware of what had just happened. "Anything to add guys? You are all a bit too quiet."
Compulsive Collector of Cute Critters
Valyth eyed Stephen and the rest of the squad up carefully, then glanced sideways to Astrelleo, who nodded. The great bird stood up and stretched his wings, and gave just the slightest inclination of a nod.
And suddenly, he snapped his head to left. He stared out to the east for a minute, then his red eyes narrowed. Astrelleo looked too; the sky towards the southeast was growing incredibly dark.
Valyth screeched and spread his wings, and looked at Stephen and the Eclipse members and inclined his head in the direction both deities were now looking. Stephen nodded and turned to face his squad.
Mewthree suddenly spoke up. Yes, Valyth can sense that Solipsus is approaching. If you're all going, I'll come too.
"Then let's move out!" Stephen shouted as Valyth screeched again and took off into the air as Astrelleo began running after him.
[OOC: The Deities are rushing to meet Solipsus at the mouth of the river running south from Lake Pacifi. Teams may now post in the announcement thread This is the Beginning of the End as to what they want their deity to do and what they want to do to help.]
