So, as you may or may not have known, it was a very special day yesterday. Cookies and milk around the world were inexplicably stolen. Mysterious boxes were left under oddly decorated trees. People were unusually nice to each other. It could only be one day of the year.
Kwanzaa Eve!
And in honor of actual Kwanzaa (did you like the Kwanzaa-colored letters in the TT title?), we bring you this update!

Unless you live under (or were recently crushed by) a rock, you should have noticed that the qualifying round for the Tournament of Ishmadal has begun! The entrants will be braving the treacherous Whirlpool Strait in an attempt to reach Ishmadal Isle in time for the tournament! But if you want to enter, it's not too late yet! Check out the rules and requirements here to see if you qualify!
Additionally, the rest of Ishmadal is getting geared up for the festivities as well! The floors are being swept, the curtains are being shook, and the Rattata are being deported. All of this is in the welcome hut, of course; nobody without a strong Pokémon team would dare step foot in the castle. Which is why they're opening it! Well, that's the non-financial reason, anyway...
A few hundred miles away, in Zeralis, Tajiro is gearing up for his expedition as well! He's prepping his Pokémon (even the five he won't need! He is the champion, after all) and gathering as much information as possible in preparation for the epic adventure.

For those of you who haven't been living under/crushed by multiple rocks (I'm using this joke a lot today, aren't I?), you may also have noticed that we've begun to kick the holiday festivities into gear! Among other things, a rather shiny and awesome promo was held a few days ago.
And that's just the beginning! We'll be unveiling a bunch of other things of awesomeness over the next few days as well. So make sure to keep checking in, or you may miss something!
I hate to be the one to kill the anticipation, but if you're hoping that this New Years will be on the level of epic that last year's was, you're probably going to be disappointed. That's not to say that this year's won't be awesome, but it won't be HOLY CRAP DID HE JUST SAY THAT?! like last year.
We are, however, going to be trying something new: an Awards show! Like the Oscars! Or the Golden Globes (only you'll want to win them)! But, we need help! A bunch of the categories need nominees, and we don't have time to search for them all! So, that's where you guys come in. Rather than rehash what I've already said, let me just quote the post I made on it:

Best Battle - For the greatest battle ever. EVER. Could be between Valyth and Novoni, two of the best trainers ever, or even Magikarp vs. Magikarp.
Most Creative - For the most creative player. One who goes above and beyond to make their adventure amazing.
Most Progressed - For the member who's advanced the most in their adventure over the past year.
SnailSpeed - Also known as the Least Progressed Award. For the member who's taken huge amounts in areas that shouldn't take huge amounts of time, etc.
Best Moment - The best moment of the year, whether it be Valyth unleashing a can of kickass on the world or a mushroom exploding in a burst of awesome somewhere on the Islands.
Hardest Working Staff Member - This goes to the hardest working staff member, the one who always goes out of their way to make sure that everything's going awesomely.
Professional No-Lifer - Also known as the Most Active Award. Goes to the member who spends ridiculous amounts of time on the site updating their topic, lounging in the chatbox, or doing anything other than having an actual life (don't worry, we still appreciate you!).
Most Likely to Delete the Board - Also known as the Klutziest Member Award. Goes to the one who's constantly making typos, deleting stuff by accident, and getting his teammates thrown into bottomless pits.

I imagine this is because having a Hermog deprives you of your Pluppy, and to be honest, I think that's terrible. So this Christmas I give you a fully-grown Hermog and tell you to go back and think about all the abandoned Hermog who were once Pluppies, thrown away because they got too big and they got ugly and you don't want to play with them anymore! ... For those of you who neglected to read the section we included on it last week, we're entered in an awards competition on another board! And we need all of you (yes, all of you) to help us win! Again, rather than rehash what Iv'e already written, I'm just going to quote:

A few weeks ago, we were entered in the Zathyus News Awards' Battle of the Board's competition, where we needed to get as many votes as possible to go onto the next round. However, we got knocked out in just the first round, and to a board that only received thirty votes! But the poll in the last Tangelo Times got over 50 votes alone! Obviously, we can do better. And now, it's time for redemption. The specific categories for the Awards have opened up, and we're entered in two: Best Gaming Board and Best RPG. Orange Islands -  It's sunny but cool in the Islands, with winter definitely making itself known, even in the tropics.
Zeralis - Sunny and warmer than the Orange Islands, Zeralis still isn't too warm at this time of year.
Kanto -  Windy and cold all across Kanto, with temperatures at their lowest all year.
Johto -  Similar weather to Kanto hear, only with a bit of rain (some of it freezing) in the mix.
Hoenn - About the same weather as Zeralis, Hoenn is getting some of the coolest temperatures it'll get all year.
Sinnoh -  The first blizzard of the season! Watch out for high winds and snowfall exceeding 1 ft (30.5 cm)!

[link=1, moreepic]Deep[/link] in the depths of the Abyss of Lost Dreams, far below the surface of Zeralis, something was stirring. The Absogno were restless, attacking anything that came in sight, but even they refused to go near the deepest part of the Abyss, where the black Karozur lived in its ancient chamber.
Karozur, in fact, was awake for just the third time in the past few millennia. The last time had been just a little while ago, to ward some trainers away from the Abyss. It had given them some cryptic advice, but it wasn't sure why or how; Karozur hadn't said it on purpose. And the time before that… it couldn't remember. It had been too long ago.
The enormous black dragon Pokémon, over eight feet tall, tapped the pitch-black orb dangling from the chain around its neck with a razor-sharp claw. It appeared to vibrate slightly, but was otherwise unscathed. Karozur had the odd feeling that the orb had been beating lately, like a heart. But it had disregarded the notion; it was impossible.
But one thing couldn't be denied; something was about to happen. And whatever it was, it couldn't be good. Karozur settled on the ground, and tried to fall back asleep. Maybe, if it ignored it, nothing would happen.
