Kumquat was a bustling city, and the grand hotel stood out thanks to its impressive size and grandeur. It seemed like an odd place for a gym, but there was a large battle ring on the ground floor of the hotel nonetheless. After spending the night in the Pokémon center, Novoni was now wide awake early the next morning, excited for her last gym match. She approached the receptionist at the counter. "Hi, uh, where do we find the gym leader?" The receptionist pointed her towards the gym entrance, separate from the hotel lobby, and sure enough, Luana was inside. "Ah, up nice and early for a battle? Well, I won't waste your time!" She said. Novoni nodded and went to stand at the opposite end of the field as Luana released two Pokémon: a Sharoglyph and an Exterrestre. "Ready?" Novi thought for a moment, then grabbed two Pokeballs and clicked them open, releasing Riogua and Aruna. The Clarimata pawed the ground and growled at her opponents, while Riogua looked around and sighed. No water. Pity. "Alright guys, this is it," Novoni said. "Riogua, let's try that new Delta Wave- right at Sharoglyph! Aruna, go for Exterrestre with a Flamethrower!" |

Clarimata fried the Exterrestre with a stream of fire, but Riogua failed to land its attack. Sharoglyph then sent a quake through the field that dealt major damage to both Pokémon. [49] 152/222[51] 65/190[44]  190/190[46]  177/177Riogua and Clarimata gain 27% and 5% exp |

Novoni frowned; the Sharoglyph not only avoided Riogua's attack, but then hit both of her Pokémon with a powerful Earthquake. Still, with an ally out that was now susceptible to it too, maybe it'd be a bit more wary about using it... "Try again Riogua, don't get discouraged, you can take 'im! Delta Wave! Rune, turn your attention to that Terrang and scorch it just like before!" she called. (remember charcoal) |

The double whammy of attacks floored both of the Pokémon long before they could hope to move and strike back against your own Pokémon. Riogua gains 20 exp! Aruna gains 10 exp! Now one last Pokémon stands in your way! (48)  208/208

We're so close! "Riogua, Aruna... return," Novoni said, recalling the two Pokémon. She picked up two Pokeballs in their place and sent out Solia, her Absogno, and Silvazur, who had evolved from the tiny Brizaur in the Unown Ruins. He still appeared a bit small for his size, but always seemed eager to battle nonetheless. She had two Pokémon now against one Totower; not exactly an even match for Totower, but she was confident that either one of her Pokémon would be able to take it out by themselves with a bit of effort. "Bri- Silvazur, Iron Head! Solia, follow up with a Crunch!" she called. |

Silvazur stepped out and let out a roar and ran at Totower head lowered as it began to glow it crashed into the rock Pokémon but it still stood and flipped its arms up grabbing Silvazur and throwing it into a wall, with immense force but the dragon stood back up weakly and tried to stand for long enough to see if Solia could end it. Suddenly a large mess of sharp stones floated in the air and shot themselves at Solia who jumped and rolled to avoid all of them and swiftly ended the battle would a massive crunch on Totower sending it crashing to the ground. Riogua gains 10 exp! Silvazur gains 9 exp! Absogno gains 190 exp! Silvazur suddenly began to glow white and its doubled in size and within seconds it had changed from a small silver dragon to a massive golden dragon. Congratulations Silvazur has evolved into Karozur! Luana congratulated you and handed you the Jade Star badge along with some other prizes. |

Novoni was still gaping at the battlefield when Luana handed her the Jade Star. "Nice job, it's always cool to see an evolution at the end. And that first Pokémon you used, you called it Riogua? Pretty cool, too. Guess you're ready for Victory Road now. Good luck." "Er... thanks," Novoni replied before heading back to the Pokémon Center. ------- "I guess we're ready, then.... I mean, you guys will be the six coming with me, you're already my most experienced Pokémon." Yes, and we can cover most anything, I expect, Riogua replied. They were sitting on one of the many docks on the edge of the city. Victory Road loomed just a little ways off, a long tunnel half submerged in the water leading all the way to Pummelo Island. We're ready when you are. Novoni sighed and stood up. "Alright. Let's... hang out by the entrance. I want to be able to return to the city tonight yet, so we'll spend the rest of the day training by there. I saw a group of trainers heading in when we were leaving the gym, they'll probably be looking for battles. Let's go." |
