The Unbreakable Code

 

So, you want to be an RPG moderator? Good for you! But be warned, there are some requirements. And maybe a rule or two... or seven. But they're not that hard to follow, if you're actually applying because you want the job.

Still there? Good. Now let's get started.

• We're only looking for the best of the best, and that includes activity. We look for a bare minimum of thirty updates a week and an hour of updating activity a day from each staff member, barring holidays, family emergencies, Armageddon, and the like. This equates to at least five a day (with a day off!). If you can't manage that, don't bother reading further.
  
  
• We only want honest Joes on our staff team, not jerks. If you're caught abusing your newfound superpowers (exclusively updating certain people, beefing up your/other profiles, rigging battles, etc.), be prepared to take the heat. All 10000şC of it.
  
  
• If you're thinking about applying because staff members get pretty colored names and neat badges next to their posts, stop thinking about it. You'll be off the staff team before you can say 'eep?'.

Part 1: Slightly Normal

Part Deux: Le Questionnaire De Confusion
1. Describe and explain the process required to create a thirteen-sided cube.
2. If pi is 3.1415926535897932384626433832795…, then what is cake?*
3. A man walks into a bar. He takes a seat, and orders a cocktail. Three minutes, the bartender comes over with his drink. The man shoots him in the head, and walks out of the bar as everyone applauds him. Explain what happened.
4. What's the difference between a chicken?
5. Ω?

* - Sorry folks, but "the cake is a lie!" is not a valid answer.


Part Tres: BATALHAR!!!
For this part of the application, you're going to be writing a battle based on one (and only one) of the proses below. You'll need to type out between two and three turns of the battle in question, in as much detail and awesomeness as you can muster. Note that this doesn't have to be like a normal RPG battle. Go in depth as you want, develop your characters, and even give one a shotgun for personality! You won't even need that section with damage and statuses and Pokémon sprites.

And in celebration of the last moderator applications that will ever be held on the current forums, we're kicking the proses up a notch and turning it up to 11! Here are your choices!:

1. A duel of the grizzled ancients (old farts) between TheMusicMan and Amerac. TMM is using his Palkia, and Amerac is using his Dialga.

2. A nuclear-powered showdown between Error and Malphis. Error is using his Missingno, and Malphis is using his Mewthree.

3. An extreme battle between Ace and Novoni. Ace is using his Garchomp, and Novoni is using her unnamed Supahdragon.

4. An epic rematch between shadow_rukario and Reznal. SR is using his Wapachu, and Rez is using his Wapahtwo.

The navigation for the new-and-improved OI-Dex. The top is easy-link navigation, and the bottom is the same old griddex you know and love. And yes, that is a search bar in the middle.


The current version of the OI forum skin. Pretty spiffy, ain't it? The announcement box has made the jump as well, and is minimized in the middle. Mind the gap.



But not everything has been that easy. With 200 dex entries to do, a lot can go wrong very easily. See Figure A.


And finally, the current demo of the site homepage. Yes, all the stuff here actually works!
