We Need Your Help!
We actually have two projects we need help for, and they're both related, so I'll go over them one at a time. First, as most of you know, the new site is going to feature a full-fleged PokeDex. To make the process of building the dex entries either, our local code monkey MechanicalMonarch has created a brilliant program that practically does the job for us. One of the most remarkable features of the dex entry builder is its learnset creator; all you have to do is input the name and level of the move, and the program takes care of the rest. However, this requires.... Read More

Welcome to the Orange Islands!

We are one of the largest and most active Pokémon TRPGs (Text Role Playing Game) on the net. Not only that, but we boast a huge number of new features and opportunities not available anywhere else. We realize that there are a lot of Pokémon RPGs around, and we know how hard being original can be because of that. However, we strive to make every aspect of our RPG fresh and new, even the basics!
  • Start your own quest in one of the most exciting and unexplored regions: the Orange Islands!
  • Battle your way up to the top just as you would in the games; defeat gym leaders, catch wild Pokémon, and become champion!
  • Build yourself the ultimate team from one of nearly 200 brand new and exclusive Pokémon!
  • Battling isn't the only aspect of the Pokémon world, is it? Explore the world as more than just a trainer; compete in Pokémon Contests, breed your Pokémon to be the best, or go on Ranger missions to save the world!
  • Explore the brand new region of Zeralis, or take a trip down memory lane through any (or all) of the original regions from the games!
  • Is RPing not for you? We also have an ongoing project to expand our dex into one of the largest ever seen. Whether you're a spriter, an artist, or just someone that wants to get rid of some extra free time, this is for you!

So what are you waiting for? The longer you wait, the more you miss out on. Click here to register and start your adventure today!

Hey I get to post the TT again! It appears TX is being swallowed up by Band Camp and as soon as I can find a way to make fun of him for it I will. I was busy making a Tiger-Fish for school, but I finished it and decided to post this thing. My Tiger-Fish turned out pretty epic, but I’m not supposed to talk about it here because it’s not “relevant”. >:(

For the past month, our local Java coder MechanicalMonarch (not to be confused with our other local Java coder Error, who still has a supersecret project waiting in the wings) has been working on a special project. But not just any special project. He's been working on a program that will basically code dex entries for you! All you have to do is input the Pokémon's information, and the program will take care of the rest. And guess what?

The program's ready. In other words, we're finally ready to start coding dex entries! This is by far the most time consuming and most difficult part of the move, so once we get this out of the way, we'll practically be on the home stretch. However, there is a slight plot twist to our plans.

We're going to be doing dex entries for every Pokémon. The original 493 plus our own 277 (yes, I just calculated that. And it includes the Glitchdex) Pokémon. Because of all of the information the mods have to check on Pokémon, and the fact that we have a lot of custom moveset information and things like that, it made the most sense to have dex entries for every Pokémon. Additionally, we're putting together entries for every item (including canon ones), but those are a cakewalk in comparison.

But we need your help more than ever now! There's no way that the admins, or the globals, or the staff alone can put all of these dex entries together. But, if everyone chips in and does twenty, we can have this thing done in no time!

So, once again, I've made a sign up list. This one's the biggest yet, but it should hopefully be the last. I've split the Pokémon up by region, and then by national dex number into sections of roughly 20 Pokémon. The item section is below those, and is split up by item type. Item entries are very easy to make, so I've split them up by type. Please sign up; we need all the help we can get! The dex program will be PM'd to you once you sign up. Thanks everyone for the help!

Written by: Novoni | Category: Amaya

With the imminent opening of the Amaya League, you're all probably wondering where certain Pokémon can be found, right? Well your answers are finally here- mostly.

Here are the basic wilds lists for the major routes in Amaya. However, certain requirements are not marked for all species. For instance, you can only access the area of Dragon Reef that contains wild Dratini after you've obtained the Dive TM and the badge that allows its use.

Due to renovations occurring throughout Solstice Island and the Hotel system, The Solstice Resort will be closing indefinitely. Any visitors currently staying there may finish their reservations, but no new entries will be accepted. But don't worry, its replacement vacation feature is sure to make a grand entrance in the near future, and will offer many, many more options and opportunities for the vacationing trainers!

[link=1, battling]Want an Introduction to Competitive Battling?[/link]

Written by: shadow_rukario | Category: Misc. Pokémon

If you hadn't noticed, Pummelo Stadium has been thriving with competitive battles. Now we are trying to get everybody into competitive battles. If you want some information you can PM Angel Knight Phil with any questions, and he will post the answers in this topic. Be sure to look at the topic beforehand just in-case he's already answered the question. If you’d rather something that’s been done by a few people with experience you could use Smogon’s Introduction to Competitive Pokémon; however, Smogon’s has a few things that are irrelevant in OI competitive battling: EVs and IVs. The next step would be to build a team. We don’t have a team building guide at the moment, but Legendary Pokémon has one that I found to be very good. Next you’ll want to test your team, so find someone to battle. You can post a challenge in this thread, and then somebody can accept it. If you’d rather have a practice battle, request one when you post the challenge and somebody (probably AKP or myself) will make a trainer and give you advice throughout the battle.
Some of you may be wondering why we are doing this out of nowhere. Well first of all we want to make our Tiers List a bit more official. We want to base it off of usage rather than assumed usefulness. Secondly we want to encourage the spread of competitive battling. We’ve been trying to get some new people into competitive battling with POTW, but it hasn’t worked out that well. Only a few new people have tried it. We want to educate more people about the strategic side of battling. If you win lots of Pummelo Battles you can also get icons for your Passport. That’s about all I have to say, so please give it a try!

That's it for this week. Hopefully it's enough for you all!

Kanto - :tstorm: Some storms from the southwest have started blowing into Kanto, causing a lot of severe weather.
Johto - :wind: Johto is experiencing a lot of rough winds coming from Kanto, but still remains dry.

If these seem a bit late to you you can blame GMod/Admins who have a life (you know who you are).
>.>
<.<
Anywhey, before I tell you all who made it you guys will look at the best answers that we got for each question. Why? Because I was told to stall you with stuff that you probably won't even read. We roll like that.

1. There are normally considered to be four dimensions: x (length), y (height), z (depth)
and t (time). Create and describe a fifth dimension and explain its usage.
The fifth dimension would be p (pie, not pi.) Pie would measure the degree of awesomeness an object would possess in relation to various baked goods of a pie-like nature. Whenever you needed to know how awesome something is you would just consult the pie chart and compare various factors such as: what it is, what it does, what you think, and popular opinion. For example: winning the lottery would have a pie rating of cherry a la mode, while your family dog dying would have a pie rating of mud.

2. What is the standard construction cost of one Death Star? Take into account machinery, robots, employees, Stormtroopers, Stormtrooper gear, weapons, ammo, lunch, toiletries, coffee
and snacks.
Considering the power and size of a Death Star, being able to destroy a planet, it would probably cost much more than an arm and a leg, especially considering the price of an arm and a leg being hardly anything. Who came up with that idiom anyways? Well, with thousands of lasers and weapons, as well as even more workers, robots, and Stormtroopers, plus the gear, weapons, ammo, food, and toiletries, the cost of a Death Star is likely enough to explode a calculator. It would probably take the wealthiest person times a lot to have enough.

3. Explain the results of a dance-off between Stevie Wonder and Beethoven.

It would result in Beethoven’s deafness overcoming Stevie Wonder, despite his off-balancedness from lead-poisoning. Also, both their pants would be off. Don’t ask.

4. Is today your unbirthday too?

No, because since a birthday is the day of one's birth, an unbirthday is the day of one's unbirth, which is death. Because, for some reason, I am not dead, today is definitely not my unbirthday, which is a shame because there's no cake.

5. Mama!

It's every Mama!'s greatest day when their child, boy or girl, speaks their first word. Well, it's only the greatest day as long as that said child says the word "Mama!" That child then becomes the center of that Mama!'s world. If "Mama!" wasn't the first word, that child would then proceed to be banished from the household's conversations, caring, and everything else.
That child would grow up to be a lonely person, looking for his or her Mama! They would be surrounded in a world full of children holding hands with their Mama! And wish they still had their Mama! Unfortunately, their Mama! is probably either dead or better off without them. The person is stuck watching movies like Big Mama! and eating food like Mama!rshmallows, Mama!ngoes, and other stuff like that. In fact, all they'll be thinking about is "Mama! Mama! Mama!" These thoughts will eventually cloud up their minds until they start hallucinating and can only see their Mama! They'll start going crazy and then soon will starve and waste away until they eventually blow up crying for their Mama!

And now to the proses.

Welcome to another addition of Community Spotlight! Roxas's brain had a bad case of gas, so I'll be taking over this month's edition.

This month, we'll be taking a good look at the more artistic side of the site. Between Novoni, Phoenixsong, Chaos Shadow, and the various other art contributors (I'd mention everyone but the aforementioned three are the ones who really drive it), we've always had a rather strong artistic presence. However, our resident artists seemed to have stepped up their game quite a bit these past few weeks.

Over in The Studio forum, a number of new art topics have cropped up. First, longtime member ImmunityBow is flexing his artistic muscles with some OI concept art, Windwaker (in my opinion) style:

Next, we have epic realistic interpretations of OI Pokémon by newcomer Metalbeak. These are so cool, in fact, that we're going to feature them in the weekly Concept Art section, alongside new concept art! Therefore, you're not going to see any right now. Deal with it!

Finally, although not really the same kind of art, we have some pretty dang awesome comics by resident wacko MissMeggles!:

It's been a while since The Zeralis Plotline ended and just now we have decided to do this. You all know of the legendaries, correct? If you don't, I pity you cause you don't know how to pay attention. Anyways, in this issue we will focus on three legendaries. These three legendaries were not the stars, but they played an important role in failing to guard the deities. Let's all give a warm welcome to the movesets and stats of...

So just in case any of you were starting to see a TT trend we decided to skip a week just to fake you out. If it worked, that's amazing; if not, I have sadness. Anyways I'm posting this TT because TX has just left for his vacation, and as you can clearly see I was not prepared to post this. The duty was thrown upon me as I took my morning stroll in the Chatbox. I'm betting you already moved onto the next part by now, so I'll stop this introduction here. There will be no wall of text stopping you from enjoying this TT. Enjoy yourself while reading this, or else.

"The King blinked in surprise as cheers erupted across the stadium. Had everything really gone off without a hitch? He looked around, almost expecting some terrifying creature to burst through the stadium walls again. But nothing happened. It really was fine. He took a deep breath and sighed. Alright, then.
"The Champion of Ishmadal!" He shouted a moment later as he grasped Mitch's arm and held it high in the air victoriously.

The crowds again erupted into great cheers, and Mitch looked around with a smile on her face. Stephen stood next to her, looking straight ahead.

"And let's not forget our runner-up! Truly, this was a battle for the ages!" The King said happily. "And now, it's time we present the prizes of the ages for our fantastic battlers. For our Champion, we have received a special prize from the Zeralis League, as well as some rare Pokémon and items for each of our finalists. Please, come with me," he said, turning to the two battlers.

They began to leave the stadium, when a collective gasp suddenly replaced the cheering. The King, Mitch, and Stephen froze in place and looked up. Towards the west, near the setting sun, was a bird. An immense, grand bird.

:crimsonho-oh:

Everyone stood and watched with wide eyes. The King's thoughts immediately took him back to the terrifying Blastoise-like monster, but this... this was Ho-oh. Slow, he smiled. It was a Ho-oh.

"Truly this is a blessed day, for the great Pokémon of the Sun, Ho-oh, has also graced us with his presence today!" The crowd, as well as the finalists, looked up and watched the great Legendary Pokémon in awe as it flew over the Stadium. Bright, dark colors flickered in the sky behind it in an impressive rainbow as it flew. Stephen squinted his eyes as he stared at the Ho-oh.

"Mitch, does that Ho-oh... look different?"

Their thoughts were interuppted, though, as the King presented them with the tournament prizes:

For the Champion (Phoenixsong):

:orbgreen:
Shiny Shampoo
Crystal Pokémon (Any Pokémon falling under the Birthday Promo rules. Amaya Pokémon can be claimed. Please give time for the Pokémon to be 'crystalized')

For the Runner Up (shadow_rukario)
Shiny Shampoo
Birthday Promo Pokémon (Any Pokémon falling under the Birthday Promo rules. Amaya Pokémon can be claimed.)

For Semi-finalists:
Pinkan Berry

Written by: Roxas | Category: Community

TwilightEagle's OI's Top 50 Movies has just concluded in a spectacular fashion. (Not really.) And the winner is not surprising in the slightest; Star Wars Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back. It really was a good movie and deserves its win.

So now that that's over, Dr. Nick is now holding votes for OI's Top 50 Bands and Artists (In America), for those of you who enjoy listening to music on a regular basis. So make sure to PM your entries to him and maybe your favorite band might win. (Well, that is if your favorite band is Muse.) After this set of Top 50 is done, make sure to look out for OI's Top 50 TV Shows.

[link=1, potw]Pokémon of the Week[/link]

Written by: Shadow Rukario, XTS, Angel Knight Phil & Pojo | Category: Pokémon of the Week

This time around, our Pokémon Analyzers have chosen the big cats of OI, Apollyon, Verdeguar and their oracle formes.

Apollyon

Apollyon originated in Topaz, but then it got dropped along with its rivals the Romanes, due to there being too many cat Pokémon and parallel Pokémon in the Pokedex. In the early days of OI, Novoni remembered the concept, grabbed it off the cutting-board floor, and made it 20 times better. Now it's the awesome Aurora and mascot you all know and love....or hate, if you're an Eclipsian. Regardless, it's a lion. get in the car.

Choice Set
:apollyonm: @ Choice Band/Scarf
Ability: Intimidate
- Glistening Strike
- Crunch
- Superpower
- Fire Fang

Coming off its great attack and speed, Apollyon can sweep with the band or try for the quick pounce and kill to eliminate its weaker prey without fear of taking a hit.

Glistening Strike serves as Apollyon's STAB attack with the only flaw of having 90% accuracy but makes up for that with 100 BP to accompany its 110 Attack. The Light typing allows for super effective damage on Dark/Bug/Ghost types meaning Gengar would take a risk trying to use Energy Ball against a Scarfed Apollyon if not scarfed itself.

Crunch comes in to play to eliminate the pesky Light-resistant Psychic types not known as Metagross/Bronzong/Jirachi for which we turn to Fire Fang. Fire Fang serves a further purpose in covering
Apollyon's other weakness, the Grass type Pokemons, and Skarmory/Scizor/Forretress.

With Superpower, Apollyon is able to bludgeon the Steel types that aren't more suspectible to Fire Fang, Snorlax, Blissey, and also hit other Light types with decent neutral damage.

Orbed Dancer
:apollyonm: @ Life Orb
Ability: Intimidate
- Swords Dance
- Glistening Strike
- Crunch
- Fire Fang

The difference between this set and the Choice set is the switch to using Life Orb and dropping Superpower in order to make room for Swords Dance to buff up Apollyon's already high attack stat. The reason Superpower was dropped rather than Crunch or Fire Fang was to cover Apollyon's weaknesses, the Psychic and Grass types. Considering Apollyon's 120 HP, it can take a hit to set up with the +2 Attack and then reap havoc with it's speed. However, be cautious and consider Apollyon's low Special Defense when deciding to set up. Blissey won't serve as much as a wall as Snorlax considering its cruddy defense but the presence of Superpower, or preferably Brick Break to avoid the stat loses, will be missed and thus one of the two Fighting moves CAN be considered as an option over Fire Fang or Crunch depending on how the metagame changes with the introduction of Light types and the rest of the OImons.

and his ghostly forme

:oracleapollyonm: :oracleapollyonf:

Opinion

Oraclepollyon would be great if it didn't have that whole "has no useful held item" bit. Since it's an oracle, it has to be holding the Oracle Stone, otherwise it loses the Ghost typing. And the combination of STAB Shadow Sneak, ghost's immunities, and its privelege of being the only Ghost immune to Pursuit are what gives it its competitive niche as a revenge-killer. It will never be the best at pure offense, but it can be great at switching in easily and shifting the momentum of the battle in your favor.

Movesets

Revenge Killer
:oracleapollyonm: @ Oracle Stone
Ability: Intimidate
~ Shadow Sneak
~ Superpower
~ Shadow Claw / Glistening Strike
~ Ice Fang / Fire Fang / Thunder Fang

While Apollyon can't run a Choice Scarf like most revenge-killers do, he makes up for it with STAB Shadow Sneak, which is usually enough to pick off weakened sweepers. In Pummelo it will do roughly 15-25% to most stuff, but in Shoddy or PO or another battle simulator when most sweepers don't run much in the way of defensive stats, it'll usually do closer to 25-35% on sweeper sorts. So basically, it lets you destroy anything weak on health without having to immediately switch out again due to being trapped into a move.

Superpower has near-perfect type coverage with Apollyon's Ghost attacks, combining to hit neutral on everything not named Jestaunt or Draether. It's also hella powerful. getting a clean 2-hit KO on Blissey, Heatran, Lucario, Magnezone, and Mamoswine, as well as OHKOing Tyranitar after Stealth Rock damage. So yeah, it's a pretty good attack.

Shadow Claw is your preferred third-slot attack, getting that great coverage with Superpower and being Apollyon's best attack against Celebi, Azelf, and Gengar....though Celebi threatens badly with Grass Knot, so unless it's at pretty low health and you're willing to bet you can win a speed tie. Alternatively you can run Glistening Strike, which has more raw power but weaker coverage (though since Superpower handles a number of Steels and the only common Grass-types would be Breloom, Celebi, and Ferazon, its only real problem is with Psychic-types like Azelf and Totower).

The last slot is just about what you most want to be able to revenge-kill. Ice fang deals with Dragonite, and hits Flygon and Gliscor pretty hard too. Fire Fang rips through Scizor and hits other Steels that aren't weak to Superpower (Skarmory, Jirachi), and Thunder Fang deals with Gyarados and I suppose bulky Waters like Vaporeon to an extent. You can also choose to run Slack Off in slot 1, 3, or 4 to be able to replenish HP so you can come back in to do damage later.

All I have to say here is that if Oraclepollyon had access to a held item, it would be incredible. As is, it has some problems hitting things hard. Still, Intimidate, 3 moderately common immunities (Normal, Fighting, Dark), solid defensive stats and the ability to outspeed a lot of non-scarfed stuff, not to mention being the only Ghost-type immune to Pursuit (which also lets it not be afraid of Weavile switching in on it after a kill) combine to potentially make Apollyon very useful to clean stuff late-game.

Swords Dance
:oracleapollyonm: @ Oracle Stone
Ability: Intimidate
~ Swords Dance
~ Shadow Claw / Shadow Sneak
~ Superpower
~ Slack Off / Shadow Sneak / Zen Headbutt

I'm sorry, did I say Apollyon lacks power? Swords Dance handles that splendidly. Basically, Apollyon uses its 3 immunities, Intimidate, and decent cache of resistances (basically just a 4x-resist to Bug, but still very useful) to net an easy switch-in on something that's afraid of it (Tyranitar, Weavile, Blissey, potentially Gengar and Lucario, among a few others), then Swords Dance as the opponent switches out. After one Swords Dance, Apollyon's Attack skyrockets to 678, which, for the record, is very high. After that, Shadow Claw-Superpower covers the entire OU metagame, sans Draether.

Slack Off heals you up if you take damage during your sweep, Shadow Sneak can be used for priority against faster foes that can stop your sweep, like Specs Jolteon. You can run Zen Headbutt in the last slot if you really want that coverage on Draether. The ability to hit Tentacruel and Fighting-types super-effectively doesn't hurt either.

Dual Screens
:oracleapollyonm: @ Oracle Stone
Ability: Intimidate
~ Slack Off
~ Night Shade
~ Reflect / Roar
~ Light Screen / Roar

It's not its best option, but with good defensive typing, Slack Off and Intimidate, Apollyon can run a decent support set. The lack of Light clay hurts it a bit as a Screener because of the shortness of the Reflect and Light Screen's lengths, but it lures in Celebi, which Pokémon like Dragonite and Lucario can easily set up on with the advantage of those screens.

Night Shade is your damaging attack on this set, doing consistent 100 damage to anything not immune to it, which unfortunately does mean Blissey walls this set. You can try Superpower in this slot instead if you really want to be able to deal with it, but in all honesty it shouldn't be a huge problem.

Instead of one of the screens you can opt to use Roar to scout a switch to a counter (if the opponent switches to Celebi or Bronzong, you can Roar them out again, but you'll know the opponent has them. extra information is always good), and just to rack off entry hazard damage.

Counters

Celebi's the biggest one, with two STABs that are both super-effective on Oraclepollyon and the ability to absorb multiple hits from the relatively weak Shadow Claw and heal the damage off with Recover. Other threats are Bronzong, Jirachi, Metagross, and Exterrestre (yes, that's all the Psychic/Steels), which have the defenses to take most of Apollyon's attacks and threaten back with with either Psychic attacks or....other powerful attacks. The biggest one in Metagross, since Clear Body also leaves it immune to Intimidate and it usually packs Bullet Punch. Actually, most walls that aren't ghost-weak and even a few that do handle Apollyon well.

Tier

Like I said before, if Oraclepollyon had access to a held item it would be clear-cut OU, no questions asked. It finds a niche in the OU metagame, certainly, but I think with that problem Oraclepollyon will be more of a "too good for UU" Pokémon than a "standard, strong, and mainstream" Pokémon. Where do Pokémon go if they're just too good for UU? BL.

Verdeguar

King of the Jungle.
Opinion
Verdeguar, the first Amaya Pokémon in our PoTW analyses, also doubles as one of Amaya’s Oraclemon. Its name comes from a mix of the Spanish, Portuguese, Italian, and Romanian words for Green (Verde) and of course its species, the jaguar. That’s my speculation anyway.

Now I’m here to tell you why Verdeguar is awesome.

Stats and Abilities
HP: 80 (364)
Atk: 130 (359)
Def: 95 (289)
Sp Atk: 60 (219)
Sp Def: 60 (219)
Speed: 75 (249)

Chlorophyll: Verdeguar’s speed doubles in Sunlight
Leaf Guard: Prevents status in the sun.

Movesets

Dancing Jaguar
:verdeguar: @ Life Orb Ability: Chlorophyll
- Swords Dance
- Leaf Blade/Wood Hammer
- Earthquake
- Rock Slide/Sucker Punch/Ivy Snap

This set looks to use Verdy’s awesome base 130 attack to run roughshod over anything that doesn’t resist its attacks. Come in on something that will be scared away, Swords Dance on the switch, then unleash pain on the opposition. Leaf Blade is there for safe STAB that has no recoil. You can use Wood Hammer for better power, but the recoil from Wood Hammer and Life Orb add up REALLY fast. Earthquake is there to hit grounded steel, poison, and fire types that resist your other attacks. The fourth slot is up to preference. Rock Slide hits 4 of the 7 types of Pokémon that hit Verdy super effectively for super effective damage, and is your greatest attack against Charizard, Moltres, and Articuno. Problem is, you need to hit them ALL on the switch as they will outspeed and OHKO or nearly OHKO with their STAB attacks thanks to Verdy’s disgusting Special Defense. Sucker Punch mitigates Verdy’s subpar speed, and has the benefit of hitting ghosts and psychics for mega damage. Ivy Snap may seem redundant, but it finishes off faster threats with STAB.

Getting a Pokémon that can spread paralysis makes a great teammate for Verdy. Slowbro is physically bulky and can use Thunder Wave to spread paralysis. Watch out for Yanmega, though, as you add another Bug weakness to your team.
If you have sun support, use Rock Slide. Your speed will be a lovely 498, which outspeeds everything, with the exception of +2 speed Yanmega, including all Choice Scarf Pokémon.

Shine Sprite Verdeguar
:verdeguar: @ Heat Rock/Leftovers/Life Orb Ability: Chlorophyll
- Sunny Day
- Synthesis
- Leaf Blade
- Earthquake/Rock Slide/Fire Fang
Sunny Day for 498 speed for 5-8 turns. Attack with whatever attack is most effective. Synthesis to heal. Pretty easy. Owned by fire types. Depending on which move you use, other things will wall you better. Simple set is simple.

Counters
OU: Heatran, Infernape, Dragonite, Scizor.
UU/BL: Crobat, Yanmega (without Rock Slide), Moltres (without Rock Slide), Drapion (without Earthquake), Froslass, Registeel, Wallaro, Blaziken….etc.

Verdeguar belongs in either NU or UU. It is fully outclassed by its Oracle Forme, but has an advantage of being able to use a hold item other than an Oracle Stone. For now, I’d say that it needs to go down to NU.

and his ghost forme,
Opinion
Oracle Verdeguar, in all its glory, suffers from one aspect. It is unable to hold an item. This means it cannot receive free boosts or free recovery; however, Oracle Verdeguar has a fantastic attack and a decent speed. With proper support he is a force to be reckoned with.

Base Stats:
HP: 75 (354)
Atk: 140 (379)
Def: 80 (259)
Sp Atk: 60 (219)
Sp Def: 90 (279)
Speed: 80 (259)

Oracle Attacker
:oracleverdeguar: @ :oraclestone:
Ability: Chlorophyll
- Power Whip
- Earthquake
- Sucker Punch
- Wish / Synthesis

This set works best with sun in play, but it isn’t needed; however, the sun will give Verdeguar an amazing healing move and amazing speed. Power Whip is excellent STAB. Earthquake is for taking down Steel types that otherwise wall you. Note that Skarmory will still always wall you, and nothing can remedy that. Wish is generally preferred over Synthesis because it can be passed to other Pokémon, but if you are building a sunshine team use Synthesis. 100% recovery can’t be beaten. Sucker Punch can be used to beat down stuff like Gengar and Rotom-A before they can do the same to you.

Verdy has a simple strategy. Swap in to something you can resist and attack with the best move available (and heal when necessary).

It’s not that difficult to wall Oracle Verdeguar. Skarmory can switch into any moveset and stall without worry. Forretress doesn’t mind any of these attacks and can stall like Skarm. Scizor can swap in on any attack and force it out or KO it. Basically any steel type that can avoid a super effective ground attack completely trashes this set.

Sunshine Ghost
:oracleverdeguar: @ :oraclestone:
Ability: Chlorophyll
- Sunny Day
- Synthesis
- Power Whip
- Earthquake / Sucker Punch

This set replaces the coverage on the last set with speed and healing prowess. Sunny Day does great things for Verdeguar; it doubles his decent speed and gives him a 100% recovery move. Power Whip is, again, your main attack. The last move depends on who you’d rather deal with. Earthquake hit Infernape and Heatran while Sucker Punch hits Rotom-A and Gengar.

This set will need to force switches to get its job done. When you force a switch set up Sunny Day, and you’ve created a monster with 518 speed (but only for 5 turns). Then proceed to inflict destruction.

This set has the same counters as the last, but, depending on what move you forego, Heatran and Infernape or Rotom-A and Gengar are added to the list.

Tier
I like Oracle Verdeguar, but, sadly, that doesn’t do much for him. OU is too much for him. On the other hand, he is a complete beast in UU. Nothing in the tier can resist the first set; however, he can still be stopped by the likes of Steelix and similar Pokémon. Maybe if he could hold a different item he would be BL, but, alas, that isn’t happening. Oracle Verdeguar will have to live in the UU Tier.

Who's on first?

Amaya isn't quite ready for its grand opening yet, but here you'll find the list of those who are able to set off on their new adventures so everyone has time to plan! A new group will be allowed to travel to Amaya once approximately every 4-6 weeks in order to prevent a massive adventure-jam in the early routes.

A few notes and guidelines:

-First off, it was long live the DRAGONAIRS D:
-But seriously now,
-- If you are in GROUP 1 but don't want to leave for Amaya right away, you may request to be moved to GROUPs 2 or 3. If this is the case, PM me please so that I may adjust the groups.
-- If you are in GROUPs 2 or 3, DO NOT PM ME OR ANYONE IN GROUP 1 ASKING TO SWITCH OR TRADE PLACES. DOING SO WILL GET YOU KICKED OUT OF ANY GROUP, and you will then have to wait until Amaya's full release to travel there.

GROUP 1

GROUP 2

GROUP 3

Now comes the serious question then. Who will you choose for your starter?!

<Taia's Legendary Pokémon Sighting Hotline! How may we help you?>
"Hi, um... I'd like to report a Legendary Pokémon I saw. I think I saw."
<Ok, can you give me your name and age, please?>
"Kori. I'm sixteen."
<Great, Kori. Tell me what you saw. Lots of details, time, place, and so on.>
"Ok, well, I was going to meet my friends at Crystal Bay. It was close to sunset, I think, maybe five or six o'clock. On the one stone bridge over the river, there was a Pokémon. It was... all shimmery, and kinda see-through. Like it was there, but it wasn't competely there, y'know? Almost like a ghost, except it didn't look like a ghost, either."
<Interesting. What did the Pokémon look like?>
"Well, at first I thought it was just a glare from the sun on the river. But it had a long tail, and big wings coming out of its front legs."
<Could you describe its head or face at all?>
"Um... not really. It long ears, or maybe horns, I think? And it stayed there for a few more seconds before it vanished... I think it might have gone into the river."
<Ok, well, thank you Kori! We will take this information down and our experts will let you know what we think on the next episode! Thank you for calling!>

And now, time for yet another exciting progress report on the IPB!

… ok, so this one isn't all that exciting. But what kind of advertising would it be if I said that outright?

Anyway, we didn't really get a whole lot done these past few weeks. Some progress was made on transferring the regions over, but you already know what that looks like, so I'm not going to waste valuable bandwidth on showing you stuff you've already seen. So let's start with the new Guides and Tools page. Basically, this is a conversion of the current 'RPG Information' forum:

Is that a bracelet or a ring?

As you can see, we've moved all useful resources for the RPG into one page. No more random hunting! In fact, let's take a look at one of those resources now!

If you just tilt your monitor, like so…

Obviously, this type chart is incomplete, but it's looking pretty snazzy, is it not? And while we're on the topic of the main site, here's a quick view of the ItemDex I've been working on:

Please do not eat the bananas. They are not bananas.

Moving on, the biggest accomplishment of the past few weeks was completing the Achievement Icon system. As you already know, you can earn various achievement icons on this board for participating in events, joining groups, meeting certain goals, and the like. But, it's a very clunky system.

On the IPB, however, it's all been streamlined. All of your icons are displayed in your profile, and sorted by category. A moderator can add an icon to your profile with the click of a button, and your icons are displayed wherever you go in your mini-profile. Hopefully, this will make icons more than just a random perk! Here are a couple of screenshots to wet your appetite some more:

Posted Image
My profile. Look at all of those icons! And my funky profile background!

The full achievements list. No more digging to find out what you have to do to earn that next icon!

Finally, I've been working on a Frequently Asked Questions section of the site to fill with questions we commonly get here. Here's what I have so far:

Posted Image

Obviously, three questions isn't going to cut it. That's where you guys come in! Post all of your question submissions here, and we'll pick the best ones, answer them, and add them to the post. We need the majority to be serious, but there can be a few joke ones, so feel free to get a bit crazy (try to make them actually funny, though. Inside jokes are appreciated). Can't wait to see what you guys come up with!

Well, that concludes another fabulous Tangelo Times, and, for those of you who didn't enjoy yourselves, my Wapachu army will be momentarily dispatched. You have about five seconds to begin enjoying yourself, but these last words will probably only drain your joy. I'd apologize, but I'm not actually sorry.

Beginning on the 31st of July, I will be vacationing in the Caribbean Sea (south of the oil spill, mind you). We realize that this is bad timing, considering the continued RPG slump. Therefore, we are calling in the reserves during my absence. From now until the Saturday after next (so August 7th), my shoes will be filled and/or flattened by TheMusicMan. Afterwards, he will leave to resume doing... whatever it was he was doing.

So give him a warm welcome back! But don't get to used for it; this is just a temporary change. And make sure he doesn't destroy the site while I'm gone, will ya?

A letter from Angel Knight Phil to the OI Staff

Posted by Angel Knight Phil (Global Moderator) at Jul 23 2010, 01:43 AM. 27 comments

To all of my fellow staff members,

It’s the middle of the summer. School’s been out for at least a month for most of you who are in school. It’s the peak of the OI year. So why is it that there’s an update drought worse than finals week for high school and college kids? There are 17 of us staff members, but looking at the updating activity, no one could tell. With only a handful of us at any time during the week (I can usually count the number on one hand) updating, more people are hitting 48 hours than they should. Hell, I’ve seen some areas get unupdated for three and four days at a time.

WHY!?

I understand that some of us are actually doing the updating. It’s much appreciated. I know some people aren’t. That really sucks.

We’re all supposed to be in this together. Even with the many side projects that are open that are here to improve this site or help make the move to IPB smoother, updating shouldn’t suffer because of it. I, myself, am guilty of letting side projects getting in the way of my updating. Regardless if we are going to a new site or not, there’s no point to move a site that seems as if it’s barely alive.

It’s really not that hard to even do minimum work. 30 updates a week? Even if you only had a couple of days where you had free time, that quota is really easy to fulfull. Sometimes you can do it in one 3-5 hour spree of the entire site. Sometimes you can do it by hitting the early routes a couple of days, then hitting Mikan through Victory Road on other days. Hell, I’m running a Pummelo Tournament, have at least three side projects going, have a full time job, a girlfriend, and I still have the ability to make my quota…and sometimes even double or triple it.

Look, I know some of us have been doing our jobs. I also know that some of us haven’t. But pointing the finger at those who aren’t isn’t going to solve our problem. We need everyone here, from the admins to the global mods to the RPG mods all at 100%. What the hell is the point of being a mod if you aren’t going to do your job, or at least meet up to expectations? We knew what we were getting into when we applied, so there should be no excuse.

With our move to the IPB, the opening of Amaya, and eventually the creation of Isshu…if we do that…we have a lot of work on our hands. All of us need to be doing all of the work, not just a few while the rest coast with intermittent appearances here or there.

I don’t care if you guys think I’m crazy, way too into this, or whatever negative thing or things that may or may not be crossing your mind right now. This is my hobby, and I want it to be fun. I don’t want it to be more work and more stress than my full time job. It’s freakin’ Pokémon.

So how’s about we all band together and get this site back to being the well oiled machine I’ve been told it once was? If not, why not get a team of moderators that can?

Are you with me?

We Need Your Help!

Posted by Trainer X (Admin) at Jul 17 2010, 08:47 PM. 76 comments

However, this requires that the program have data for all of the moves first. And this is where you guys come in. For the rest, I refer you to MM:
Code Monkeys

Okay as some as you know, we're moving to a new site here soon, and along with that, we're updating the Griddex to a much more sophisticated and downright prettier format using HTML. As such TX has asked me to write a dex entry program that will crap out dex entires in html format.

A feature of this program is a learnset creator where you type in the level of a move the Pokémon learns, and the name, and it spits out all the info in html, and as such, I need formatted code on all the moves in the Pokémon universe...

each move looks exactly like this;
Code:

public void Name() {
moveArray[0] = "Name";
moveArray[1] = "type";
moveArray[3] = "Type";
moveArray[4] = "movetype";
moveArray[5] = "Movetype";
moveArray[6] = "power";
moveArray[7] = "accuracy";
moveArray[8] = "PP";
moveArray[9] = "effectpercentage";
moveArray[10] = "description";
}

If the move has no effect, no move power, etc., you use "<b>&mdash</b>" for the effect chance.

for example, this is what Tackle looks like;

Code:

public void Tackle() {
moveArray[0] = "Tackle";
moveArray[1] = "normal";
moveArray[3] = "Normal";
moveArray[4] = "physical";
moveArray[5] = "Physical";
moveArray[6] = "35";
moveArray[7] = "95%";
moveArray[8] = "35";
moveArray[9] = "<b>—</b>";
moveArray[10] = "A physical attack in which the user charges and slams into the foe with its whole body.";
}

so I need these formatted moves for every single move around... so yeah... please?

We've been splitting up the moves by type, so here's a full list of all of the types, with the types that have already been completed crossed off (yes, this list will be updated):
Type List
Please, please, when you post a move, put it in [CODE][/CODE] brackets.

And now, for the second bit. As was shown in the previous issue of the Tangelo Times, the dex entries will feature pop-up TM windows. However, these must be coded individually as well. I've done the first ten myself, but with our TM set, that leaves another 143 to be coded, plus seven HMs. Not fun. Here's our full TM list:
TM/HM List
As you might notice, the HMs are oddly numbered, and two old classics – Cut and Rock Smash – are missing. With the advent of Chitang-updates, neither of these are particularly useful or necessary in the RPG, so they have been cut for our purposes (get the pun?). We skipped HM 01 on the list because that is universally known as Cut, and we didn't want to confuse anyone more than they already are.

Anyway, here's the format used to code TMs:
Code:

<div id='ContentTMNUMBER' style='display:none;'>
<h3>Technical Machine TMNUMBER - Focus TMNAME</h3>
<table class="general_box"; border="0" class="spriteline2" cellspacing="2" cellpadding="3">
<tr class="header">
<th class="dex" width="25%" align="center"><b>Name</b></th>
<th class="dex" width="25%" align="center" colspan="2"><b>Type</b></th>
<th class="dex" width="13%" align="center"><b>Power</b></th>
<th class="dex" width="12%" align="center"><b>Accuracy</b></th>
<th class="dex" width="12%" align="center"><b>PP</b></th>
<th class="dex" width="13%" align="center"><b>Effect %</b></th>
</tr>

<tr class="row1">
<td width="25%" align="center" rowspan="2">NAME</td>
<td width="12%" align="center" rowspan="2"><img src="http://orangeislands.info/images/types/TYPE.gif" alt="TYPE"></td>
<td width="12%" align="center" rowspan="2"><img src="http://orangeislands.info/images/types/MOVETYPE.gif" alt="MOVETYPE"></td>
<td width="13%" align="center">POWER</td>
<td width="12%" align="center">ACCURACY</td>
<td width="12%" align="center">PP</td>
<td width="13%" align="center">EFFECT PERCENTAGE</td>
</tr>
<tr class="row1">
<td align="center" colspan="4">MOVE DESCRIPTION</td>
</tr>
</table>
</div>

Just like MM's code, you'll be using &mdash for areas that aren't applicable to the move you're working on (so, for example, the Power field of Calm Mind). Also, with the image links (<img src="http://orangeislands.info/images/types/MOVETYPE.gif" alt="MOVETYPE">), you must put the link part in lowercase (so, for example, fighting.gif, not Fighting.gif). Also, do not include a % sign for the Accuracy or Effect Percentage fields. So, for example, here's Water Pulse:
Code: Water Pulse

<div id='Content03' style='display:none;'>
<h3>Technical Machine 03 - Water Pulse</h3>
<table class="general_box"; border="0" class="spriteline2" cellspacing="2" cellpadding="3">
<tr class="header">
<th class="dex" width="25%" align="center"><b>Name</b></th>
<th class="dex" width="25%" align="center" colspan="2"><b>Type</b></th>
<th class="dex" width="13%" align="center"><b>Power</b></th>
<th class="dex" width="12%" align="center"><b>Accuracy</b></th>
<th class="dex" width="12%" align="center"><b>PP</b></th>
<th class="dex" width="13%" align="center"><b>Effect %</b></th>
</tr>

<tr class="row1">
<td width="25%" align="center" rowspan="2">Water Pulse</td>
<td width="12%" align="center" rowspan="2"><img src="http://orangeislands.info/images/types/water.gif" alt="Water"></td>
<td width="12%" align="center" rowspan="2"><img src="http://orangeislands.info/images/types/special.gif" alt="Special"></td>
<td width="13%" align="center">60</td>
<td width="12%" align="center">100</td>
<td width="12%" align="center">20</td>
<td width="13%" align="center">20</td>
</tr>
<tr class="row1">
<td align="center" colspan="4">The user attacks the foe with a pulsing blast of water. It may also confuse the foe. </td>
</tr>
</table>
</div>

I've divided up the TMs into sets of 20. I've already done the first ten, which simplifies things a bit. As with MM's code, please make sure to post it in [CODE][/CODE] brackets. Here's the list (again, this will be updated):
TM/HM Assignment List
So if you'd like to take on an assignment from either (or both list), just post here, and post back with your completed work once you've finished. Thanks in advance to anyone and everyone who helps; you really are saving us a ton of time and effort, and helping to make the awesomeness of the new site possible!

EDIT: For both formats, the three 'movetypes' are Physical, Special, and Other.

Rather than come up with another convoluted and complex excuse as to why this Tangelo Times was almost late, we're just going to suck it up and blame it on the World Cup.

So what if most of the people working on the Tangelo Times live in the United States? We can't enjoy a good game of soccer?

No it's definitely called soccer. If it were called football, we'd watch it every Sunday over beers and fattening food. Or, at the very least, my neighbors would.

Before we get into an ethnocentricity-fueled debate, let's just move onto the actual Times, shall we?

BE SURE TO READ ALL OF THIS IF YOU PLAN ON VISITING AMAYA

Despite the usual unforeseen delays, Amaya is finally in its final stages, and the League is just about ready to open up to international trainers! (That'd be all of you guys!) However, to avoid a sudden rush of 1390651635.4 new trainers all clamoring for a Cubble at Professor Acacia's lab, there will a strict limit on the amount of new trainers allowed to begin their Amaya adventures at once. The fairest way to determine this is a simple drawing. Every 4-6 weeks then, a new drawing will be held and the next group of players can begin. This way, the routes don't become overcrowded.

SO, if you plan on starting anew in Amaya and would like to enter the drawings, READ THESE RULES and then sign up!

1) You must have at least ONE badge in order to travel to Amaya.

2). You may bring ONE Pokémon at LEVEL 5 to begin (you will still receive a starter).

3). Normal Fresh Start rules DO NOT APPLY. ALL of the other Pokémon in your PC will remain off-limits until you reach Imperia City.

4). You may bring THREE items with you. These, for example, could include: A Mist Stone, TM [Corona Ring], Charcoal. This includes any items your Pokémon (if you brought one along in addition to your starter) is holding. You will be supplied with five Pokeballs at the start of your journey. Your other items will remain off-limits until you reach Imperia City.

5). If you sign up and your name gets drawn in the first set, you may request to wait for the second set the following month instead.

6). The Amaya Region Pokedex is NOT INCLUDED IN THE NATIONAL DEX. This means that, even if you have defeated the Elite Four and have the National Dex, you still CANNOT trade for Pokémon caught in Amaya.

7). If you want to sign up for the drawing to go to Amaya, you must reply to this TT with the following message:

Quote:

Dearest Novoni,

I have read and understand all of the rules listed above, and would like to enter the drawing to go to Amaya. I will not whine if my name is not drawn for the first set.

Long live the Dragonairs,

[Your Name Here]

One of the more unique features of the site involves the Passport Icons many of you see in the Passport posts of your RPG Profiles. Usually these were earned through participating in the RPG Events or participating in contests. Now, however, we are pleased to release an entirely new set of Icons obtainable through many various methods! These icons were all made by MechanicalMonarch, so a huge thank you goes out to him; they look fantastic!

Here are just a few of the icons you can earn:

Posted Image Mafia Victory

Posted Image Obtain Six Shiny Pokémon

Posted Image Win Five Matches in Pummelo Stadium

In order to claim a Passport Icon, you must post in the Achievement Icon Thread. In that thread you can also find the complete list of Icons to obtain. How many can you earn??

[link=1, comm]Community Spotlight: July[/link]

Written by: Zexion | Category: Community Spotlight

It's time again for another Community Spotlight, and fortunately this month we've had a lot of different things pop up for the community to take a part in. There's the Star Trek Mafia hosted by XTS, an OU Tournament held in the Pummelo Stadium by Angel Knight Phil, and a Poetry Contest held by Jessecast. Another thing that's popped up recently is OI's Top 50 Games Of All Time and OI's Top 50 Movies Of All Time. A list of the Top 50 games / movies that the members of OI voted for. The latter of which is still accepting entrants, so please, pm your top 10 movies to TwilightEagle.

Now, for the remainder of this article, I'd like to talk about the Pummelo Stadium and how it gets no affection. It's a very nice place if you like to battle competitively or want to learn how to battle competitively, (Like not giving Sonnest Seed Bomb) then Pummelo is the place for you. I would also like to give a small thanks to Angel Knight Phil for hosting this tournament and are actually sticking with it. -.- that in my opinion will be the start of many others and hopefully get people to use Pummelo more.

[link=1, bw]Black & White Update[/link]

Written by: shadow_rukario | Category: Black/White

Well, it's me again (yay, I'm back) with another B/W update. I'll start things off with new Pokémon because there are tons of them.

Rankurusu
http://pokebeach.com/news/0710/new-pokemon-corocoro-1.jpg
Rankurusu is interesting imo. At first glance she seems to look like another Jynx, but she's so much more different. I have come to love her design. She's based off of the Gothic subculture, and thus she wears black "clothes". Her skin is pale looking from what we can see and her head seems to be designed to look like a bat. Her typing is deceiving. She looks like she would be dark typed, but she's been confirmed psychic. One of her abilities is magic guard, so maybe she's a Gothic witch or something. I dunno.

Gochiruzeru
http://pokebeach.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/06/oha-suta-new-pokemon-2.jpg
Gochiruzeru is the guy who is enclosed in a membrane, and he also happens to be one of my favorites, so expect tons of praise. He appears to be based off of a cell and well all of the organelles are his "limbs". This guy is adorable and very simplistic in design and I love that. Anything with a simple design is always a winner. Hopefully we learn more about this guy when Coro-Coro is released.

Koromori
http://pokebeach.com/news/0710/corocoro-new-pokemon-3.jpg
Koromori is the fluffy bat. Needless to say, his design is simple so I love him. He looks like he'll evolve so hopefully he evolves into a good Psychic/Flying (sorry Xatu). Other than that, well I'm wondering if that thing in the center of his head is an eye or a nose. It would be cool if it was an eye because then he'd be cyclops bat. He would be so epic.

Kibago
http://pokebeach.com/news/0710/new-pokemon-daisuki-club.jpg
Kibago is the green guy who looks like a cross between Larvitar and Gible., and fyi I love him. He looks a bit like a shark, a forest shark. Maybe he's some sort of dinosaur that I don't know the name to, but whatever. He's awesome. Hopefully Coro-Coro reveals more about him.

Minezumi
http://pokebeach.com/news/0710/corocoro-new-pokemon-3.jpg
Every time I see this rodent He makes me laugh. He's just so funny looking with his pose and his little superhero mask. His eyes look super ridiculous too. His ability, Keen Eye, serves him well. He's probably based off a chipmunk because of his tiny ears and ginormous cheeks. He'll probably be the FRR because of his simplistic origin and design.

Musharna
http://pokebeach.com/news/0710/corocoro-new-pokemon-2.jpg
And I thought Munna was ugly...
Now I'll have to catch one because it doesn't evolve into Drowzee and it's evo is actually likable imo. It doesn't have awkward looking eyes (seeing as they are closed) and no random floral patterns. It's actually really cute looking. Apparently it has something to do with Dream Smoke. We're not sure what this does, but in Coro-Coro it says "Get 'Dream Smoke' and you will be able to receive a 'Game Sync,' which allows you to go to the Pokémon Global Link." Also it looks like it's based of a pillow. That would explain the floral patterns on Munna.

Wooguru
http://pokebeach.com/news/0710/corocoro-new-pokemon-1.jpg
Best. Bird. Ever.
Oh and he's the Valor Pokémon so we at Eclipse lay claim to him. Muahahahaha! Also he seems like he's going to be insanely good. He gets the abilities Keen Eye (whatever) and Encourage. If he get's Brave Bird he will be a beast. Imagine Brave Bird with boosted power and no recoil. Intense.

Moguryu
http://pokebeach.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/07/moguryuu.jpg
Moguryu is coolish with his gigantic claws and apparent lack of eyes. He's obviously based off a mole, and other than that not much is revealed about him. Stay tuned.

Doryuuzu
http://pokebeach.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/06/oha-suta-new-pokemon-1.jpg
He is the one facing us who looks like a mole. He's pretty cool looking, but I'd like to know if that thing above is head is like a helmet,or if it's something that is supposed to make him look like a bird. The first time I saw him I thought he was a fat bird with iron wings. He might be able to evolve from Moguryu.

Ononokusu
http://pokebeach.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/06/oha-suta-new-pokemon-1.jpg
Most people say Ononokusu looks like a mantis. I disagree. The only thing that makes him looks remotely bug like are the pincers (which could be blade like things). He's more dragonic than anything. He's obviously very awesome (but apparently he looks Digimonish?) and kindof looks like he'll be a rare two stager (like Drapion).

Desukan
http://pokebeach.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/06/oha-suta-new-pokemon-1.jpg
Can't really say much about him because I only see his back, but he looks like a shadow creature lurking inside a sarcophagus.

Denchura
http://pokebeach.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/06/oha-suta-new-pokemon-1.jpg
Can't say much about him either, but he has the looks of an electric bug (which is awesome) and his back design is pretty cool.

Hatooboo
http://pokebeach.com/news/0710/new-pokemon-bw-demo.jpg
This is a really awful picture, so I can't say much. He kind of looks like a pre evo to Wooguru though.

???
http://pokebeach.com/news/0610/black-white-character-sheet.jpg
http://pokebeach.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/06/oha-suta-new-pokemon-2.jpg
http://pokebeach.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/07/zoroark-movie-unnamed-pokemon.jpg
These are all the unnamed guys (the two that look like starter evos, the guy in the middle).
In the first picture the two are beta images, so these probably aren't the finals; however, they seem to be on the right track with Mijumaru's line.
The second picture dude is awesome, and he looks like he evolves from Nosepass. I'm betting he's a single stager though.
The last guy looks like the Mew Pokémon of this generation. It's either that or the obnoxiously cute Pokémon that rivals Pikachu. I'm hoping the former.

Now I'll go on and introduce characters. Yay!

Makomo
http://pokebeach.com/news/0710/corocoro-new-pokemon-2.jpg
Apparently she's the Professor's friend. Maybe she's the Hero's mom or a lab assistant. Either way she definitely will have to play a larger role than other people of the nature.

Maybe these will be the two rivals and they won't use the other gender hero at all. That would be so awesome.

This guy is either the Champion or the main villan. I'm hoping the latter just because I'm tired of the bad guys looking so evil.

Also the games feature region specific areas, Black City and White Forest. I wonder if these will house the legendary Pokémon or the version exclusives. I'm also wondering how they'll make an area version exclusive.

And that's basically all that I'm willing to write about, so stick around for the next coverage issue.

[link=1, potw]Pokémon of the Week: Tsunamic[/link]

Written by: Angel Knight Phil & XTS | Category: Pokémon of the Week

Tsunamic, the tidal Pokémon. Named after a toxic tsunami (which in itself is a powerful concept), this Pokémon is the fully evolved form of Pattle, the typed Platypus starter of OI. Boasting base 100 stats in three areas and a speed stat equal to Heracross, as well as a very versatile movepool, Tsunamic is a force to be reckoned with. We're here to show you exactly why.

Base Stats:
HP: 75 (354)
Atk: 100 (299)
Def: 70 (239)
SpA: 100 (299)
SpD: 100 (299)
Speed: 85 (269)

Movesets
Spike the Waves
:tsunamic: @ Black Sludge
Ability: Torrent
- Toxic Spikes
- Surf
- Sludge Bomb/Hidden Power [Electric]
- Slack Off

Tsunamic has the ability to lay down Toxic Spikes, much like its similarly typed "rival" Tentacruel. The difference here? Tsunamic cannot Rapid Spin to remove entry hazards, but it has a reliable recovery move in Slack Off. Surf is for STAB. Sludge Bomb and Hidden Power Electric are for coverage, depending on what you fear more. Sludge Bomb is for grass types like Breloom, Koalyptus, and Celebi, and it also has nearly unresisted coverage in OU, with the exception for other Tsunamic, Tentacruel, Empoleon, and Karozur. Hidden Power Electric is for flying types who do not fear your Toxic Spikes, most notably Gyarados. Please note that Volphin will completely wall you and force you out with STAB Thunderbolt (it outspeeds by 10 points). Black Sludge is there just in case someone decides to Trick Tsunamic, but you can use Leftovers instead.

The strategy is simple. Come in against something you can resist and/or force out, then proceed to set up. Once you have two layers of spikes on the field, you can then heal off the damage you've incurred, or you can attack.

This Tsunamic's counters include physically strong Pokémon that can exploit your mediocre defense with Super Effective moves. Metagross, Karozur, Gyarados, Gallade, Ferazon, and Swampert are among a few Pokémon who could give Tsunamic issues. Skarmory makes an excellent partner to Tsunamic because of its ground immunity and high physical defense to take attacks from all of the before mention threats, with the exceptions being Dragon Dance or Choice Banded Ferazon and Swords Dance Gallade.

Meglomaniac Tsunamic
:tsunamic: @ :goldfeather:
Ability: Torrent
- Nasty Plot
- Hydro Pump
- Sludge Bomb
- Slack Off/Substitute

Special sweeping Tsunamic. Nasty Plot to boost your Special Attack to 598, then proceed to tear apart the opposition not named Swanami and Blissey. Just off of Tsunamic's STAB moves, it covers everything in the perceived OU metagame, as the only things that resist Water/Poison are Tentacruel, Karozur, Empoleon and other Tsunamic. Gold Feather is there to boost your attacks without draining your life. Slack Off is for recovering, but you can use Ice Beam to cover dragons and to actually be able to do decent damage to Karozur. The argument for Power vs. Accuracy for Surf and Hydro Pump comes up depending on whether you want a safe damaging move or if you want to add some power at the cost of potentially game breaking accuracy. You can either recover with Slack Off, or Substitute to get yourself into Torrent range for some REAL damage.

XTS

Swords Dance Sweeper
:tsunamic: @ Life Orb
Ability: Torrent
~ Swords Dance
~ Aqua Crush
~ Poison Jab / Dragon Claw
~ Superpower / Slack Off

While Nasty Plot Tsunamic is generally more effective due to its more powerful STAB attacks on that side, a Swords Dance set is still quite viable. It still provides for excellent coverage, and the surprise factor never hurts. Aqua Crush is the core attack of the set, an upgrade over Waterfall because its high critical-hit rate is more likely to see use than Waterfall's flinch chance (due to Namic's mediocre Speed).

Poison Jab will generally be the preferred option due to it being a STAB attack and gaining a boost in power because of it. With Aqua Crush, it actually has very good coverage, resisted by only Tentacruel, Empoleon, Karozur, and....other Tsunamic. At least in OU, the tier it actually has to deal with. Alternatively, you can get neutral hits on all of the above except Empoleon by using Dragon Claw, in exchange for a drop in power on everything else (you also gain the ability to hit Dragons hard in exchange for having issues with Celebi).

The last slot is where Namic really wishes it had Aqua Jet so it could take advantage of its Torrent ability to fire off boosted priority attacks, but since it doesn't, this slot gets filled up with either extra coverage or the ability to keep hitting what you can hit. Superpower lets you deal with Empoleon and other Steel-types, not to mention throws Blissey for an even bigger loop than the other two attacks (without need of a Swords Dance, Superpower has roughly a 50% chance of OHKOing Blissey after Stealth Rock damage). Slack Off is generic healing attack that lets Tsunamic heal off HP it may have lost while Swords Dancing, or generally just filling up the tank again after an explosion of offense (even if it doesn't take a hit, Life Orb recoil adds up fast). I guess it depends whether you want to deal out more damage quicker, or if you want to be able to sustain a sweep and be able to switch in again later.

While it's not Tsunamic's best set, it's still highly effective. Sometimes your best ally can be the element of surprise.

Special Choice
:tsunamic: @ Choice Specs / Choice Scarf
Ability: Torrent
~ Surf / Hydro Pump
~ Ice Beam / Sludge Bomb
~ Superpower
~ Hidden Power [Electric / Ground] / Sludge Bomb

Straightforward Choice set is straightforward. Either Surf or Hydro Pump provides your STAB attack and whichever one you pick is generally your main attack. Ice Beam provides nice coverage and power, hitting Ground-types, Dragons, Flying-types, and Grass-types.

Even though this set is mostly special-oriented, Tsunamic has enough sheer Attack power to do serious damage to Blissey and Snorlax with Superpower. Your choice of Hidden Power depends on whether you want to deal with stuff that walls your main special attacks of Surf/Hydro Pump and Ice Beam, which is basically Water-types (thus HP Electric), or take out switching in Electric types like Electivire and Volphin that can do serious damage to Tsunamic with their own attacks.

Alternatively, you can use Sludge Bomb in place of Ice Beam or Hidden Power if you're willing to give up some coverage (at least super-effective coverage, anyway) in exchange for the sheer power of a second STAB attack.

The item choice actually has an effect on how Tsunamic is played. With Specs, it's a pure sweeper that uses its special attacks to just blast stuff into submission. With a Scarf, it plays the role of a cleaner that outspeeds and picks off weakened Pokémon. Either way, it's actually a pretty good option when it comes to offensive special Water-types.

Damage Calculations (Not factoring Torrent)

+2 Hydro Pump vs. Jirachi: 340-400 (chance to OHKO with Stealth Rock)
+2 Hydro Pump vs. Swampert: 364-429 (increased chance of OHKO with Stealth Rock)
+2 Hydro Pump vs. Snorlax: 319-376
+2 Hydro Pump vs. Blissey: 277-326 (Chance to 2HKO with Stealth Rock)
+2 Hydro Pump vs. Cresselia/Umbreon/Ellaith: 284-335 (Guaranteed OHKO on Ellaith with Stealth Rock)
+2 Hydro Pump vs. Dusknoir: 277-326 (Guaranteed OHKO with Stealth Rock)

+2 Sludge Bomb vs. Gyarados/Dragonite: 257-302 (SR OHKO)
+2 Sludge Bomb vs. Suicune: 234-275
+2 Sludge Bomb vs. Volphin: 283-333
+2 Sludge Bomb vs. Salamence: 295-348
+2 Sludge Bomb vs. Vaporeon: 265-312
+2 Sludge Bomb vs. Celebi: 514-605

Tier
This thing, just like Tentacruel, is very useful. Even without Rapid Spin, Tsunamic has a place on stall teams due to Slack Off. The Nasty Plot set really can be nasty, and it gives the platypus something of leverage over Empoleon.

As much as I don't want to admit it, there are just way too many things at Tsunamic's disposal. It can also potentially do Tentacruel's job better, even if you have to have another Pokémon do your Rapid Spinning. With that said, I believe Tsunamic has a home in the OU tier.

First things first, let's take a look at the fruits of the poll from last week's Times!:

Posted Image
Look! I'm featured!

But the real star of the show this week is the Dex Entry. This week (mainly the past few days), we finally got down to work to churn out the finalized dex entry template. First, we focused on streamlining the level-up list:

Posted Image
Now with style AND organization!

The only real change from the last time you've seen this is that the Level field has been moved to the far left. Now, you can easily see a Pokémon's level-up progression at a glance, and the fields on the right side are more dedicated to move stats.

Next, we go to the top of the dex entry, where the general info is held:

Posted Image
I wonder what type of Pokémon the CLASS Pokémon would be?

This is just a template, hence the radome capital letters instead of numbers and useful information. As you can see, the more general info has been moved together into a box, and both of these boxes have been moved under the first box in the entry, with the Pokémon's name, sprite, types, and base stats. Also, you can now see the Pokémon's full ability right in their dex entry!

A little farther down, we have some more streamlining and beautifying:

Posted Image
Oooooh, the colors…

This area is located underneath the Evolution line and Effectiveness boxes, which are underneath the previous screenshot. The PokeDex Entry now gets its own full-width box, which actually helps to preserve space by keeping it all on one line. But the biggest addition is the full Locations box. Now, you can easily see where a Pokémon is found in any region at a glance!

But by far, my favorite addition this week is to the TM/HM Table:

Posted Image
The legendary move known as Focus Scratch.

This box appears when you click on TM01. It displays information about the TM, can be opened without a new page load, and will close again with a click of the X in the corner of the popup. These popups will only appear for moves that the Pokémon learns (so for the entry depicted here, this TM technically wouldn't be clickable). Now, you can get all the information you need on TMs without taking up a huge amount of page space!

Our last progress screenshot this week shows off the Dex Index:

Posted Image
Stylish and functional!

This screenshot is about a week old, so a few things have been changed since it was taken, but it shows off the general functionality.

Oh, and yet another blooper:

Posted Image
This time, it actually wasn't my fault.

This concludes yet another Tangelo Times. Before we go, we have a very important question to pose: how many of you actually make use of weather and swarms in your adventures? They're a pain to update, and we don't want to bother if nobody uses them.

And that's all there is. There isn't anymore.

Kanto - :wind: Cooler and windy as cold sea air blows in, displacing the warm air from before.
Johto - :wind: Johto is experiencing the same conditions as Kanto, albeit on a slightly lesser scale.

And welcome, to yet another issue of the Tangelo Times! Technically it's still the weekend over on the West Coast, so technically, we're not late (shut up Yankees fans)! There was quite a bit of content to get ready for this issue, so hopefully you'll excuse the delay.

So what do we have for you this issue? Well, quite a bit of good news, some little bit of semi-bad-but-not-really news, and a helluva lot of awesomeness. Are you ready?!

It seems that one of our contestants, shadow_rukario, has gone on a summer vacation. When he returns, the Tournament of Ishmadal will resume and hopefully conclude. Until then, feel free to purchase some refreshments, or purchase a copy of Ishmadal: The Needlessly Extended Story for just $24.95 in the gift shop. Stay tuned for the finale!

[link=1, follow]Wait, Who's Following You Again?[/link]

Written by: | Category: RPG: Features

Back in January, we introduced a new feature called Follower Pokémon. Based on the feature addition to Heart Gold and Soul Silver, this allowed you to have a Pokémon follow you, who would find items, hidden treasures, Atlantis, and the like. Unfortunately, the system had its faults: players often forgot to remind moderators, and moderators often forgot to update the follower Pokémon. These faults made the system rather irritating to use.

But no longer! Now, you have a special Follower Pokémon profile field that you can use to display your Follower Pokémon. You can edit this field in the 'Update Profile' link under the 'Preferences' menu. So if you weren't using the Follower Pokémon system before, make sure to give it a try now!

So, I'm sure that like most people, you have quite a few opinions that you'd like to share, but perhaps not publicly. This is where an enterprising young Global Moderator not unlike myself comes in.

Starting in the next issue of the Tangelo Times, you will find a new "Complaints and Grievances" section, where I attempt to counsel those who have...well, complaints and grievances in an anonymous fashion (or not. it's up to you). Obviously.

So, today, I hand you your Assignment America homework: PM me any Complaints or Grievances you might have. It doesn't matter if they're not related to the site, I'll listen to you whine about anything! Make sure all C&Gs are sent in the following format:
Quote:

And so on and so forth. That's all you'll be hearing from me for now!

[link=1, chronicles]The Orange Islands Chronicles[/link]

Written by: Zexion & Amerac | Category: The Orange Islands Chronicles

Part of the new TT sections will be a chapter to a new Series titled "The Orange Island Chronicles (Without Ash)" A story following a young trainer named Matt and a new set of characters, that should give you the feelings of the Anime. (Well, the non sucky parts. And did I mention NO ASH?! :]) Here's a teaser of some of the characters, written by one of the lead directors of the series, Amerac, followed by a glimpse of the new villains, written by me.
The Characters

Misty- Becoming tired of the repeated gym challenges, Misty finally got her sisters to take the gym back over. Upon hearing of the multitude of new water types being discovered in the Orange Islands, she sets off alone to try and master the new aquatic Pokémon.

Ranger Rick- Ranger Rick is a ranger just starting out at his job of protecting wild Pokémon from poachers. An act of pure chance places him with Misty and her group.

Autumn - A childhood friend of Matt, but due to her interest in fashion she wants to be a Master Coordinator. Together with Matt she heads to Valencia from Tangelo to get her first Pokémon.

Matt - A rookie trainer who just turned 10, heading to Valencia to obtain his first Pokémon he encounters Misty. On the way together they spot a rare and unknown Pokémon in the water, but due to the glare of the sea it seemed as though to be a mirage, little does he know this Pokémon has plans for him and his friends.

Team Rocket members- Two rookie members assigned by Giovanni to steal many rare and new Pokémon from the Orange Islands and Zeralis Region.

Meet the Characters: Angelique and Tristan

Since we're starting fresh with a new story, it was felt that new Team Rocket members were needed. So I would like to introduce you to the new team of Tristan and Angelique and their lovable sidekick an annoying Chatot who goes by Chatot. The two of them were personally assigned by Giovanni to scout the Orange Islands (after Jessie and James absolutely failed to do anything in the Orange Islands) and the Region of Zeralis.

Angelique was born as a stubborn bitch. All her life all she wanted was to be famous and have lots of money. Her parents wanted her to have some sort of higher paying job when she grew up, so they enrolled her in one of the most expensive schools they could afford. However, Angelique didn't want this. She wanted to be the worlds best Pokémon Breeder / Groomer. Her parents tried to ruin all hopes of this dream though, even going as far to get rid of the Eevee she had received from her grandmother. Distraught, Angelique ran away from home to pursue her dreams. Along the way she was encountered by two Team Rocket recruiters who promised to help her accomplish her true dreams.

Tristan was born into a family similar to Angelique's, however, instead of wanting their son to be in the high paying work force, they wanted him to be a famous Pokémon Coordinator. They even enrolled him in a school dedicated to Pokémon Coordinating. Tristan at one point did love coordinating, but his parents constant pressuring him slowly made him despise it. He even traded the Lunelle they gave him for a Tarakin, signifying to them that he was done with coordinating. Shortly after, he left home pursuing freedom from his parents and to become a Pokémon Master. That's when he was encountered by a Team Rocket recruiter who promised Tristan that with the power of Team Rocket he'd become one of the worlds best trainers.

[link=1, potw]Pokémon of the Week: Koalyptus[/link]

Written by: shadow_rukario & Angel Knight Phil | Category: Pokémon of the Week

This week we’ve chosen to do our article on Koalyptus, the second most popular starter option.

SR:
Opinion
Koalyptus is comparable to Breloom; they are both slow but heavy hitters and they both have the same typing. Breloom’s superior speed and attack and its excellent ability may make it seem like the better option, but don’t be fooled by this. Koalyptus trumps Breloom in every other stat, and it has a larger movepool. Koalyptus’s typing gives it a handful of excellent resistances: ground, water, rock, and grass. Along with its ability to use special attacks, Koalytus’s typing gives it the ability to 2HKO most common walls in the OU Metagame. That speed may be a downer, but Koalyptus is nothing to be scoffed at.

Movesets
Stall Breaking Koala
:koalyptus: @ Life Orb
Ability: Overgrow
- Close Combat
- Wood Hammer
- Stone Edge
- Hidden Power [Fire] / X-Scissor

This set is excellent at KOing walls, but it will need Stealth Rock support to function properly. Close Combat and Wood Hammer are the main attacks. CC OHKO’s Blissey, Tyranitar, Heatran, and Snorlax and 2HKO’s Bronzong, while Wood Hammer OHKOs Vaporeon, Swampert, Suicune, and even the mighty Hippowdon (though only after SR and Suicune isn’t a guaranteed OHKO, but SR makes the chances higher). Wood Hammer can also 2HKO Gliscor, RotomA, Tentacruel, and Gyarados (even if Intimidate is factored in, but you need SR for that).

Stone edge hits Zapdos, Salamence, and other flyers that may switch into Koalyptus, and it 2HKOs the listed after SR (including Salamence’s Intimidate). HP [Fire] is reserved for Skarmory, Scizor, and Forretress the latter two of whom are OHKO’d after SR. Skarmory can only be 2HKO’d. X-Scissor is only recommended if you need something to OHKO Celebi.

The major problem with this set is that it takes far too much recoil, and Koalyptus is far too slow to avoid the hazards of it. This Koalyptus works best when it can be baton passed speed. You can use it without it, but you will want to switch it out a lot.

Choice Band
:koalyptus: @ Choice Band
Ability: Overgrow
- Close Combat
- Wood Hammer
- Stone Edge
- Earthquake / X-Scissor / Thunderpunch

This set provides much more physical prowess, but at the cost of being limited to one move; although, considering the recoil Koalyptus suffers, this doesn’t hurt it too much.

This set is pretty straightforward. Close Combat hits steel, dark, rock, ice, and normal types. Wood Hammer is used for crushing water types, rock types, ground types, and Rotom. Stone Edge can rid you of pesky flying types (if you can get the first hit in).

The last option depends on what you need. Earthquake hits Metagross, Jirachi, and Tentacruel harder than any other options. X-Scissor helps you handle the likes of Celebi and Cresselia. Thunderpunch is for Skarmory. Not really much more to say, all you do is choose the best move and attack.

SubPunch
:koalyptus: @ Leftovers
Ability: Overgrow
- Sleep Powder
- Substitute
- Leech Seed
- Focus Punch

This set’s completely outclassed by Breloom’s SporePuncher set because of Spore and Poison Heal, but it’s still usable.

First thing you will want to do is switch into something that will run away and set up a substitute. Then sleep whatever comes in, hit it with leech seed, and start attacking with Focus Punch. In some cases it will be better to save sleep powder for something that can OHKO Koalyptus after surviving a Focus Punch, such as Skarmory.

This set despises the flying and ghost types and will need something to stop them. One may think fire types threaten it, but Heatran is OHKO’d by Focus Punch and Infernape is far too frail to swap into a Focus Punch easily.

Forgetful Koala
:koalyptus: @ Leftovers
Ability: Overgrow
- Amnesia
- Slack Off
- Sleep Powder / Leech Seed
- Wood Hammer

With Amnesia Koalyptus can raise its bulkiness to frightening levels. Anything without a STAB super effective move cannot hope to KO it (barring a CH).

This set works best on a stall team that needs something to deal with water or ground types. Koalyptus can just swap in on them and sleep or seed whatever swaps into handle him. Sleep Powder is the better option as it can disable many counters, but Leech Seed adds to Koalyptus’s longevity. Wood Hammer is a very powerful attacking option and it 2HKO’s or OHKO’s most water and ground types.

Counters
Skarmory is the number one counter. He’s able to handle every set and he can OHKO with brave bird every time. Yanmega, Togekiss, and Crobat can also easily OHKO Koalyptus with Air Slash / Brave Bird.

Gengar and Rotom can stop the SubPunch set cold and strike back with enough power to 2HKO Koalyptus.

Infernape can easily Revenge Kill the CB Set and Forgetful Koala. Heatran can also revenge kill any Koalyptus that isn’t behind a substitute.

Tier
That miserable speed is going to keep Koalyptus from entering the land of OU, but he is usable there and it’s typing will probably be too good for the likes of UU. Even less can stop it there; therefore, I believe Koalyptus would be placed in the BL tier.

Angel Knight Phil
Opinion
Koalyptus, as I've been told, is the least favorite of all of the OI/Zeralis starters. I mean, don't tell that to Pikang or Novoni, since they both have Eucoala and Koalyptus respectively. But the biggest complaint I hear is about its subpar speed. Obviously its typing is shared by both Kudang and Breloom, is outsped by both (yes, Breloom too). But let's talk about the positives. It has a beautiful attack stat, and solid physical defense at base 100. Base 90 HP is good too (better than Kudang and Breloom). It resists Stealth Rock, which is always a good thing. Anyway, let's get on with the analysis.

Movesets
Brelyptus/Koaloom

:koalyptus: @ Leftovers
Ability: Overgrow
- Sleep Powder
- Seed Bomb
- Focus Punch
- Substitute/ThunderPunch

This looks pretty familiar, doesn't it? It's almost exactly the same set that you see Breloom running. However, as you may have noticed, there's quite a difference. No Poison Heal, no Stone Edge (you have to settle for Thunderpunch to hit flyers), no 100% accuracy sleep move...you catch my drift.

First things first. You bring this in on one of its resistances and/or against a Pokémon that it can force out. Sleep Powder on the switch, throw up a sub on the second switch (if they switch), then begin pounding away with STAB Focus Punch with your 339 attack stat. If you go for a third attack, you have a couple of options, but I went with Thunderpunch. You can easily 2HKO Gyarados (even with Intimidate factored in) and Pelipper. You have a decent chance to 2HKO Crobat, but I wouldn't stay in due to the possibility of utter destruction due to Brave Bird.

You're going to have a huge problem against things that resist both of your STAB moves (if you only run two moves) and hit you hard. Pokémon that come to mind immediately are Gengar and Crobat, the latter having STAB on something you're 4x weak to, Flying. Then there's Moltres, who is in a class of its own.

Subseed with Fist Pump
:koalyptus: @ Leftovers
Ability: Overgrow
- Leech Seed
- Substitute
- Sleep Powder
- Focus Punch

Does this set look familiar to you? It's basically a B...wait, I already said that. Again, no Poison Heal and no Spore. But what Koalyptus lacks in abilities and instant slumber, it makes up for it with higher overall bulk, making a SubSeed set very workable.

First off, you should not be sleeping someone as soon as you come in this time. You want to wait until the time is just perfect (aka, something epically greater than you is going to switch in). This is also due to people throwing in something throw away or with Insomnia to basically make you waste a turn. You don't want to go OMGSLEEPPOWDER, and have your opponent immediately switch to Honchkrow, banded, with Drill Peck. Just...no.

Obligatory Choice Set
:koalyptus: @ Choice Band / Choice Scarf
Ability: Overgrow
- Close Combat
- Wood Hammer
- X-Scissor/ThunderPunch
- Earthquake/Sleep Powder

508 attack is not the best in the world, but nothing will really like being hit with Koalyptus's dual base 120 STAB attacks. Wood Hammer and Close Combat together can tear through teams...but that's if Koalyptus is Choice Banded...and has paralysis support. X-Scissor is for Psychics and other grassers, Thunderpunch is for flyers resistant to grass. The lack of Mach Punch is quite the blow here. Without the scarf, 219 speed is abyssmal. I mean, you tie with Magnezone. Tyranitar outspeeds you. Maybe you want a little more speed in your life.

With a Choice Scarf, Koalyptus hits 328 speed. That is one point BELOW base 115 speed Pokémon, like Starmie. You can KO things that would normally be faster than you...like Gyarados (2HKO with TPunch), if it doesn't have any Dragon Dances up. You can run Sleep Powder on the scarf set to sleep a potential counter, just in case they expect you to be running the Choice Band or other sets.

Counters
Koalyptus may not have a 100% counter due to it being able to put said counters to sleep. However, a few issues come to mind.

Ryumulus immediately comes to mind due to Natural Cure and taking little damage from the koala's STAB attacks. It's even worse that Koalyptus can't hit the dragon SuperEffectively at all.

Honchrow has Insomnia, but takes a lot of damage from STAB Focus Punch. It will still OHKO with Drill Peck.

Basically anything that has STAB on :flying: type attacks, and is faster than Koalyptus can count as a counter, however they will always have to watch out for Sleep Powder.

Tier
Koalyptus is outclassed by Breloom in almost every way, with the exception of overall bulk. It would have a nice home in UU, but would definitely fear the king of UU, Moltres, as well as Physical walls such as Weezing.

We also have one new page design to show off! We feel as if the built in Administrators and Moderators list doesn't really do the staff justice; we want you guys to know more about us! Therefore, we've been working on this:

Of course it's not filler text! Novi and I just think the same thoughts.

Next, we move onto the main attraction of this week's Operation Invision section: the profile. We spent the better part of today trying to perfect the layout for individual Pokémon, and eventually, we think we did it. But not before going through quite a few design changes:

Can you say indecisive? And did anyone else notice that Quilava gained experience in the middle of that?

But after all of that, we finally came up with something that we feel gets the job done perfectly. Even better, you get to see it on our brand-new red skin, paid for by our very own MechanicalMonarch!:

Welcome to the World of Tomorrow!
Not to be confused with TomorrowLand.

Now, you may notice a number of new things on this page. First, experience is now displayed in neat progress bar graphics, making the profiles spiffier than ever. Second, items are now displayed as sprites! Every item, OI or not, will have an emoticon, and can be used anywhere throughout the site.

Next, we have the RePG (name pending; feel free to suggest a better name!) box, as shown on the lefthand side, under the main profile bits. Anywhere in the main RPG (aka where people are adventuring), you'll see a small number on the bottom right hand of each post, as well as a plus (+) button. These buttons are for you to give points to any RPG posts that you think show particularly excellent creativity or writer ability. Members will accumulate these points over time and slowly rise through the ranks of ineptitude and dictionaries, eventually becoming full blown Role-Players! We will also use these values for things like 'Most Creative RPer', 'Best RPG Post', and more in next years Golden Orange Awards.

Oh, you want to know the different ranks? Here's a quick run-down:

1-9 Points: Newbie
10-24 Points: 1337 Speaker
25-49 Points: Repeat Attacker
50-99 Points: 6th Grader
100-149: Author
150-199: Scribe
200-249: Role-Player
250+: ???

You might have also noticed that Achievement Case was relocated to above the ReGP indicator. We don't have time to go into that this week, but you'll hear plenty about it in the next issue. And trust me, it'll be worth the wait!

UPDATE!: One last thing before we go. We've been looking into things, and it seems like we might be able to afford an add-on we snubbed when we originally purchased the IPB: the Blog system. Now don't misunderstand me; the blog system on the IP.Board is far more advanced than the one here on ZB. Here's a few of the key features:
  • Blog Tracking: Rather than having to keep checking blogs to find out if they're updated, you can just follow them! Receive in-forum notifications or email notifications, whichever you prefer. You can even follow them using RSS feeds!
  • Customization: Each blog can be extensively customized by each member, from the colors of the blog to the banner to the different content blocks that show up in the blog!
  • Important Blogs: We have the ability to put important blogs at the front of the blog system so that they're always within reach. No more digging for the Amaya Blog!
  • Group Blogs: Want to run a group art project? How about a group for rating different video games? All possible! With group blogs, you can have multiple people post in the same blog, and still have their own personal blog on the side, if they want to.
  • Always Accessible:[/b] If you have a blog, a link to it is automatically placed in the form of an icon in any post you make, right next to the link to your Gallery. Additionally, any blog posts you make can be easily accessed directly from your profile. Even better, ever seen something posted on the forum and want to blog about it? Easy! Just hit the 'Blog this Post' button, and the post will be imported directly to your blog for you to write about!
But don't take my word for it! See the Blog system in action here!:

http://community.invisionpower.com/blogs/?s=e2d92bd779c821911ea7c28a27aba57d

But cool features don't really matter if nobody's going to use them! So make sure to vote in this week's poll! Note that the question asks specifically whether or not you would use a blog system, not whether or not having one would be cool. Even if you think you would use one but aren't positive, vote yes! The system will be of particular use to our artists and writers, as blogs will help them to keep their portfolios much better organized. So make sure to vote so that your voice is heard! If you want blogs and say nothing, you'll regret it when we never get them!

Oh, and a progress report wouldn't be complete without some bloopers, would it?

Tune in next time for another episode of Honey, I Forgot a Bracket!

That's about it for this week's almost-late issue. As you can see, the IPB is finally starting to come along, and the News Crew is keeping up their running start. And even better, you finally have a place to voice your complaints (remember to give Noir hugs and kisses, by the way).

And with that, the world is safe from TT-imposed doom for another week. See you next time!

Same as the Previous Week

Orange Islands - :tstorm: Thunderstorms rage into the islands as temperatures stay warm and muggy.
Zeralis - :sun: It's nice and warm in the southern tropics, making for a great time to head to the beach.
Kanto - :wind: Cooler and windy as cold sea air blows in, displacing the warm air from before.
Johto - :wind: Johto is experiencing the same conditions as Kanto, albeit on a slightly lesser scale.
Hoenn - :sun: Almost unseasonably high temperatures and the displacement of the previous warm front are making for almost perfect weather.
Sinnoh - :tstorm: Thunderstorms are ravaging this area too, especially in the more mountainous areas.

And welcome back, for another exciting episode of... wait.
...
...
And welcome to yet another Tangelo Times! We're still trying to recover from post-finals shock syndrome and get back on our normal schedule, so excuse us for the delay.

However, this issue should be action-packed enough to make the delay worth it! Not only do we have exciting IPB news, but the News Crew gets to flex their writing muscles publicly for the first time. Keep reading to see how they fared!

Yes! Round Three is finally over! Even better, the two remaining NPCs in the tournament, Frita and Ozzie, have been caught in a scandalous sex scandal (speaks for itself, wouldn't you say?), and have thus been disqualified, sending our two remaining competitors, shadow_rukario and Phoenixsong, to the Finals! Please send your new teams as soon as possible so that we can get the show on the road. Stay tuned to the Tournament of Ishmadal event thread for further updates!

And now, for some staff team shakeups! First, it's time to say goodbye to one of our best-while-he-was-here-but-strangely-vanished staff members, Chronicler. Honestly, we don't know where he went, but we're hoping he finds his way back here, and if not, that everything else is well for him.

Next, in our last issue, if you recall, we welcomed Amerac, one of two alternate moderators from the last round of applications to the staff team. Now, we welcome aboard the second of the two alternate moderators, Aren! Congratulations!

Finally, you may recall the rather unique situation that our now-global moderator Winterbane was hired in. His real life had swamped him at the time of applications, so we allowed him to apply afterwards. Now, we have bestowed the same privilege to one of our recent ex-moderators, and his application was as stellar as last time. So now, welcome MechanicalMonarch back to the staff team! Congratulations MM!

So for those who haven't noticed, there's been a moderately sized phenomenon sweeping through the Game Corner: an online take on the classic game of mafia.

At its core, the basic rules of mafia are very simplistic. There are mafia members and normal people, usually called "townies" in the game. The mafia try to kill off all the townies, the townies try to figure out who the mafia are and vote to "lynch" them. Townies win when all the mafia are dead, mafia win once at least 50% of the surviving participants are mafia, allowing them to kill off the remaining survivors without any resistance.

But since on the internet we have access to Personal Messaging and other forms of indirect communication, online mafia games have the ability to be far more intricate and larger than the real-life classic, with elaborate roles, multiple mafias, and more. We often build our mafia games around a certain "theme": recent mafia games have been based around the legendary Pokémon of Zeralis, and the fine members of our forum. In the former, an independent faction claimed a surprise victory in the final stages of the endgame, while in the latter, the mafia cruised and finished off the townies within 4 days, though a last-minute betrayal gave the win solely to their deranged boss. (On that note, congrats to Chaos Shadow and MissMeggles for their respective victories.)

The latest mafia game getting started up has a Star Trek theme....seriously? Star Trek? What idiot thinks Star Trek and mafia can possibly mix together well?

....oh. Right. This idiot. Anyway, signups are here (in case you didn't already catch it) should you wanna check it out. Seriously, when played well it's a fun game, and should figure to pick up in activity with the school year coming to an end and many people inheriting a lot more free time on their hands. Even if you don't play, you might as well follow the game as it progresses. At least that way if you decide to try it out during the summer you won't be jumping straight into the deep end.

Seriously. Mafia. Check it out.

Our own Amerac has taken the time to interview three members about the striking similarities between Isshu and Amaya. Let’s give the floor to the old guy!

Written by: shadow_rukario | Category: Gotta Catch ‘Em All

More news about Pokémon Black and White is upon us once again. So it’s time for me, SR, to inform you all about it! How exciting!

So you guys will want to get the new Pokémon update first, so here they are.

Chiramii

Chiramii is my personal favorite because Chinchillas are awesome, but I’m supposed to be updating and not showing bias so I’ll get on with it. It appears to be the first route rodent (FRR), but it has a really good ability Technician. FRRs don’t usually have the best abilities, so if it is a FRR than Gamefreak has made a slight step forward. Also it has a new move, Sweet Slap. It’s yet another multiple hitting move when Doubleslap would have seemed like the same thing. This raises the question, “Why can’t they stick with moves they already have?” We may never know.

Munna

Munna is a pink floating thingy with a floral pattern or a “Dream Eater”. It may be inspired from this quote in the First Generation games, "The Pokémon here are so chunky! There should be a pink one with a floral pattern!" That’s inspirational stuff. There’s been some talk about it evolving into Drowzee, but it doesn’t really look anything like Drowzee except for the trunk; however, Gamefreak’s done stranger things, so it’s possible. Munna also has an interesting move called Telekenisis. It seems like Magnet Rise except you use it on your opponent. I have no idea how this would benefit you as a battler, but maybe it has another effect.

Gear

Well, I’m not sure on his name. Bulbapedia says it’s Giaru, but everybody else says Gear. I’ll stick with Gear. Gear is, as his name so cleverly describes, a gear, but, wait, that’s not right, he’s two gears. How very clever of them. People say he looks like a Digimon, but this is inaccurate; he looks like he can evolve into a Digimon. Anyways, Gear has a couple interesting abilities, Plus and Minus, so it’s possible something else will get them. Otherwise the only way to use the ability will be to catch two Gear and use them in a double battle together. Using two of the same Pokémon is boring. Another thing that’s boring is making yet another multiple striking move, but at least this one is a new typed one.

Mamepato

Mamepato is a Starly clone pigeon. It’s about time we got a pigeon Pokémon. Well, there’s not much to say about it. He’s a round, not scruffy, bird with eyes that stare into your soul. That’s right, into your soul. He also has some interesting abilities, Super Luck and Pigeon Breast. I’ve never known a Pigeon to be lucky or unlucky (based on the Japanese Name), so I didn’t actually understand the ability. Then I did some research and found out that pigeons have a superstitious nature according to B.F. Skinner. For reals. Also Pigeon Breast prevents a defense decrease and it seems like it’d be a line exclusive ability. I’d rather not see too many of those.

Hihidaruma

At first I didn’t like this little gorilla guy, but then I searched for his inspiration and found out that he got off lucky. He’s based off of a daruma and for those of you who don’t know what that is…
Spoiler: click to toggle

Pretty ugly, right? He’s grown on me as bit since then and now I can see him evolving into something completely awesome. Hopefully he evolves. Anyways he has an interesting ability, Invigorate. This boosts the power of attacks, but removes secondary effects. Flare Blitz and Close Combat would be excellent on this guy.

Shimama

OMFG, A LIGHTNING ZEBRA! THIS IS THE BEST DAY OF MY LIFE!
Not really, but an electric zebra is cool. Not really much to say except that he has taken Electivire’s ability. That’s cool. Also they made a Volt Tackle for Pokémon not named Pikachu, Wild Bolt. Maybe that means we at OI can get rid of Volt Tackle as a TM and add in Wild Bolt. Then Pikachu can celebrate in his false glory. This will only ever happen if Wild Bolt is physical though, so, if not, it sucks to be Pikachu.

Meguroko

Meguroko is a crocodile with funny looking eyes, but that doesn’t stop him from being an awesome little guy. He has an awesome type combination, Ground-Dark, and some neat abilities, actually a neat ability. Intimidate is a pretty good ability, but, face it, it’s old and boring. Overconfident is his new ability and it boosts his attack when he KO’s a Pokémon. It may not be that good of an ability, but it certainly is new.

Now it’s onto other things.

Reshiram and Zekrom recently had their types revealed, Dragon-Fire and Dragon-Electric respectively. These type combinations are, uh, interesting (Kyogre, how do you like Zekrom?) even if they do give them both a ground weakness. Oh well, Dialga lives with it. These type combinations are meant to represent the light of the Sun and the blocking of the sun. This theme has certainly sparked a bit of discussion about their third legend, if there is one. The two legendaries also had their abilities confirmed, Turbo Blaze and Teravoltage. Nothing more is known about these abilities.

Also the new professor, Professor Araragi, is, for the first time in Pokémon history, a female professor.

Zorua and Zoroark aren’t available by normal gameplay. Could these be the first nonlegendary Pokémon to be unavailable or is there a secret about them we don’t know?

Finally, onto the most interesting update in my opinion, the region.
Isshu

Isshu looks a lot like Manhattan, but I can’t find an excellent picture of it so this bad angled one will have to do.
Spoiler: click to toggle

The amount of industrialization may not be the same, but the shape is similar.
Now the region itself is very interesting, but the giant city looks very out of place compared to everything else. There’s a sprawling desert north of it, and it looks like it has some ruins or something. To the east is a huge forest and I can’t really make out much of the stuff in the forest. There’s a lake and a spot of brown that has a building on it or something. North of this forest is obscured by letters, but I can see mountains under them. North of the desert is a town with a Ferris Wheel or something and another forest. This time there’s a giant lake in the middle of the forest and there’s an island in the middle of the lake. It makes the lake look like a Pokeball (Surprise!). North of the second forest is a small town with something that looks like a castle in the middle. North of this is more stuff obscured by words. Yay!
To the east is a city with what appears to be a lighthouse in the middle of the river. Not sure where they’re going with that, but whatever. Then there’s some more mountains and in the north-west corner something that looks like a shrine. East of the shrine is pretty hard to see clearly, so I’m not going to bother much with that, but there’s a castle (just barely sticking out from under the words) that looks like it could be the E4. Then there’s some sort of tower to the west of the western mountain range. The first look at this region made it seem a bit more industrialized, but, upon seeing the entire region, it looks a bit wild and untamed.

[link=1, aotm]Introducing: Avatar of the Month[/link]

Written by: Zexion | Category: Honoring the Members

A new feature that will happen once a month is the new Avatar of the Month and Signature of the Month areas, where members of the Crew will select a person who has the “best’ avatar or signature respectively. This month, I have taken the liberty of picking someone who has the “best” avatar in my mind.

This person is none other than

Posted Image

Lukeib618. Now why did I pick this avatar as the avatar of the month? I feel that the vagueness of his avatar is just dandy and clean. Simple things can be good ya know. So I honor you this month. Let this be a warning note to all, if you want to be honored, make sure you have a kick ass avatar. Jaja.

This issue of the Tangelo Times is too extreme to even fit into one post! More after the jump!
